These tutorials have been super useful Daniel! Very clear and easy to follow explanation. Tutorials like these are hard to find for Rhino. Really hope you will keep doing these!

This was a great learning tool. I'm new to Rhino coming from SolidWorks. The thought process to create an item is SO DIFFERENT. SW the process is pick a plane, make a sketch, extrude or cut with the sketch, repeat. I'm not sure how to boil down the Rhino creation process yet. So far is seems: make a surface, join with other surfaces until solid is achieved.Also, you are fairly unique on RU-vid. Most Rhino is focused on Architecture. I'm interested in making functional (3D Printable) parts. I have subscribed! Thanks

While those 3 ways to create the Y-branch of the handle are quicker, the best approach is to use 6 single-span surfaces for each side. Despite that this technique requires more time for modeling, the end result is much better and exactly what's used for manufacturing purposes by the majority of industrial designers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KywTxrkTkco.html As for the 3nd way that uses a patch, it's possible to create a better end result by building 3 blend curves between the blend surfaces. This way, the bulging of the patch surface will be considerably less pronounced.

Awesome videos. Thanks for making them. At 13:25 I use the multi pipe and get 3 square tubes coming together. Any idea what is causing this?
@danielbrunsteiner

Hi there, I would think that you might have toggled the SubD preview off. So you are looking at the wireframe, or polygon version of your SubD surface. So use the ToggleSubdDisplay tool to see the real surfaces. ✌🏻

This is a great tutorial. I am having issues with when I split the pipes for the handle the line that makes the split shows up on the outside instead of in the center. So i have been unable to do the part where you rotate the pipes 90 degrees for the 2nd handle. Do you have any tips?

How can you go from rhino to production directly? doesnt it require regular cad like solid works and then 2d of each part?
@danielbrunsteiner
@danielbrunsteiner Год назад
This really depends on the requirements, but in theory there is no difference from the 3D data that comes out of SolidWorks versus the data out of Rhino, it’s all surface data. So as Long as all the technical requirements for production are met, you can definitely go to production directly. And if you need, you can make 2D drawings in rhino ;)

when I turn the handle into Nurbs, the handles has a lot of dots and lines and not like yours at all, what should I do? at 17:00
@danielbrunsteiner
@danielbrunsteiner 9 месяцев назад
Hm hard to say what you mean exactly. But are you seeing the surface isocurves by any chance? If you go to Display Options of your viewport you might see this enabled. Which creates a lot of additional lines that you don’t see in the video. You should still be able to follow the rest of the video. Hopefully that helps.

When you do the pipe function and type in a diameter of 11.5, is there any way that you can do this with multi dimensions? Like if you wanted 2 of the lines to be 11.5 and one to be 8 for example TIA! Love the videos
@danielbrunsteiner
@danielbrunsteiner Год назад
Hey Will, the SubD MultiPipe doesn't let you choose different diameters; you'd need to use one of the other ways of creating the handle with multiple diameters. Which, btw is even easier than having the exact same diameter as shown in the video.

@@danielbrunsteiner Okay awesome, would be such a cool feature if you could multi-dimension the multi-pipe ahahha. Thanks for replying

Hi, Daniel! Nice video, good job! We need more Rhino tutorials :) Тhe only thing I didn't understand is handle with fillet edges... hole is not filling. And what is "C" for? I have mac version.
@danielbrunsteiner
@danielbrunsteiner 3 года назад
Hi Ekaterina, I don't know if I understood correctly. Could you point out the time of the video where this happens? Usually "C" is the option to auto-chain the edges, so you don't have to manually select all of them. Hope that helps.
