Great work on the extension piece, does just what you need don't it. I wouldn't worry about the length with the type of work your doing with it. I need me a XN20 in my life now 😄

Thanks Nick. When I was looking to buy a little Chinese excavator there was quite a lot of 1 tonne machines on RU-vid but the only 2 tonne ones were sitting on a concrete pad outside the factory just going round and round. That's why I've been doing these videos so guys like you can see the machine doing real jobs and I'm trying to show a variation of tasks it can do. Would be pretty cool watching Everyday with me, Nick driving a Rhino XN20 then I wouldn't feel so lonely. Go well.

@@dinomite_diggers3453 you aren't wrong. I was so angered at the videos they sent me of machines just digging fresh air with terrible music in the background hiding the engine. I appreciate you doing your videos, it sure helps others including myself to make that decision. To be honest I don't need to do any research as I know the Rhino excavators are already pretty decent. One day my excavator brother I shall stand tall with you when I'm running a Chinese 2 ton machine, whether it be a Rhino or Sany or Sunward 😆 Thank you buddy 👍

New subscriber - nicely done. You did a great job of operating the extension on its inaugural outing. Love the idea. Gonna have to get me one of those made. You've got nice long tracks on that machine. The short tracks on my 1.8 ton are one of my small complaints. On a future purchase, I'll pay more attention to that. You've got a great property. I'll be watching the rest of your videos soon.

@@dinomite_diggers3453 hahaha it's crossed my mind. I'm in the waikato. This digger is now my favorite toy. I've dug 160m of approximately 1m deep drainage, then put double novaflow coils and refilled with metal (French drain). What a life saver this digger is, made light work of it.

A mate of mine who does engineering stuff made the whole thing from scratch. He has a Hitachi 1.7 and the attachment is interchangeable with that and my Rhino. The only bit he got a proper engineering shop to do was the curve on the blade. I'm sort of regretting that we didn't make it longer but this is just the Mk 1 model. You have to start somewhere so you can improve on it. cheers.

@@dinomite_diggers3453 is your machine a 2 ton? It looks similar in size to my 1.8 ton. Do you think your machine is heavy enough to go out another meter? Don’t want you to tip into the creek. 😂
@dinomite_diggers3453
@dinomite_diggers3453 6 месяцев назад
@@georgeharvey3062 Yes it is 2 ton, it's only 200 kgs heavier than the 1.8 so they're going to be pretty similar anyway. I'm confident it would cope ok with another metre on the extension because it is only dragging the stuff towards me and not lifting anything. What brand is your 1.8 machine? Are you contracting or just working on your own place?

The extension is 2 metres long but I'd be keen to try 3 metres. Each time I use it I'm slowly getting better with it, when you pull it in you have to crowd the opposite way to what you would with a bucket on, and that doesn't come naturally. Cheers

Hi thanks for sharing what your digger can do. I live in Australia and also watch Nick's channel. I was going to get a smaller machine like Nick's which are 13 000 thousand over here.but thought the 1.2 ton would be better has the Kubota eng for 18 I went to look at the machines and 1.5 ton caught my attention it was a lot bigger machine with more reach and more digging depth but no boom swing. Just wondering how important having the boom swing is. I live on small acreage so can't really see a problem and stronger machine for 19 seems more appealing. These are uhi brand and are local to me .
@dinomite_diggers3453
@dinomite_diggers3453 2 года назад
Hello Peter. My digger has retractable tracks and the swing boom, I've done well over 200 hrs on it now and have never used these functions at all. I know those things are helpful in confined spaces but like you I live on small acreage so have room to move. I initially got a Rhino XN12 but it really wasn't suitable for me here and I was able to upgrade to a slightly used XN20, which was the best thing I've ever done. The XN20 is bigger and more stable but also much better to operate and a much better built machine. It's hard to believe both these machines are the same brand. Have you watched the Tree Change Farmer channel? One video Dave did a tour of the UHI showroom, a totally excellent and informative video. The UHI diggers look really good and they have a great warranty. My advice is don't go too small by trying to save a few bucks, if you can afford to do it, get the 1.5 or even the 2.0 UHI looks a very nice machine. And don't worry about the swing boom, they are over rated. Cheers.

@@dinomite_diggers3453 Thanks for your thoughts that was exact noly what I was thinking . I h ave seen the uhi video as well I was surprised by the size difference between the 1,2 and 1,5 ,The 1,5 seems around 30 to 40 percent larger then the 1,2 I didn't look at the 2 ton but I think they are 32000 which is out of my price range.hopefully the 1,5 without the adjustable track and boom swing will do what I need for 19000 Thanks for posting what you can do with your digger you have a very beautiful property.

A bit late replying but... I have a JD 17G that has the boom swing feature. There's other uses but I found it most useful for making or maintaining gutters alongside my driveways. I can keep my tracks on the driveway but pull straight along the trench path by swinging the cab clear to the right while having the boom nearly a full swing to the left, or vice versa. I use a 30" smooth tilt bucket at full tilt.
@dinomite_diggers3453
@dinomite_diggers3453 Год назад
@@joeltemplin3570 Thanks for that Joel. When you have a digger sitting in the shed it's amazing how many different tasks you come up with for it to do. I could actually do without the swing boom but I couldn't do without the thumb and I'm using the ripper more and more now too. Are you enjoying your JD 17G? What other jobs are you doing with it?
@joeltemplin3570
@joeltemplin3570 Год назад
@@dinomite_diggers3453 Definitely enjoying the 17, although I can't seem to get rid of a stupid butt pucker factor on even relatively slightly uneven ground... lol. My wife runs it a bit too and hoots and hollers like she's on an amusement park ride when the mini tips around. It's all fun to her. She cleans up around the horse barn. I can't straddle most of my driveway gutters so the boom swing is invaluable, and I can't imagine not having the thumb either. Among other things like general cleanup, I use the mini to hold tree lengths up off the ground to cut up firewood rounds. I've gotten hundreds of feet of water/electrical trenching done and a digout next to our holding tanks. I'm going to expand a small pond when things dry out around it this spring and dig out a backyard watergarden pond too. Fun stuff, usually.
