What a great Police Force. I never tire of watching this and other Royal Hong Kong Police parades. Mr. Fullerton is a splendid parade commander. Congratulations.
Excellent crisp and immaculate drill. Police Asst Commissioner wearing spurs! Love the WPc who was so nervous she went to shake hands twice, and the smile and 'don't worry' from the Asst Cssr.
I was a Bong-Baan in Squad 89/90 in 1974, our CDMI was Mr Maurice-Brown CIP. Our DMI was the late Mr. Fung Kwok-ping, then an SIP. My Squad was Z Squad (pronounced E-Zed). I remember only too well helping to engrave those lines in the Square! We marched every day, shirtless, in Summer. "If you don't like it, then it's good for discipline!" was the mantra. The RHKP was a fantastic Police Force. We worked bloody hard for long hours, but relished the job satisfaction. S.G.Brown CIP UI 26419 Retired
I have never seen such immaculate drill, puts the Brigade of Guards to shame, their dressing was immaculate. A fine, well co- ordinated parade of Men and Women. ONLY The British could achieve such splendid drill.
Think u will find many a representative from the Brigade if Guards have actually supervised and instructed the RHKP overtime, and especially..AFTER the handover, where both Coldstreamers and Scots Guards were invited to "assist" and advise the former colonies Police Force
The commander of the parade was once the Regimental Sergeant Major of the Scots Guards The immaculate drill was traditionally from the British Army So many NCOs and officers were transferred to the RHKP when they retired from the Army
All has been changed of Hong kong. Police force is one of icon of reflecting to the quality of the city. You can see how poor qulaity of the HKP nowaday🤭. I can see the high quality of the RHKP. I am pound of myself as I been a member of the RHKP 1984 to 1990
Mr. William Fullerton (CDMI)was passed away on last week Saturday (Sept 25, 2015)evening at home(UK) with his family members around him following a long and stoic fight with cancer, he was 78; He was 78, RIP CDMI, who was retired in the rank of Superintendent of RHKP Force.
Aw god rest big wullie the dug - my instructor 1983 - whose the ruc man - on like fire and explosions - your not getting the baton of honour- undersood - something infinitely honourable- behind me on the parade A great honour- year forward dancing with his dad me in the police tactical unit with an old fashioned divers helmet on bubls ripped out In walks wullie - thanks for looking after my father - great days in Fanling
As a former Drill & Musketry Instructor to a Probationary Inspectors Course about the same time this brings back many memories. Nice to see Mr Fullerton (CDMI) in splendid form.
I did 3 days in HK on my way to Oz in late 96, so glad I did it as it was amazing, did the old air port fly in and saw some history, last days of the Colony, one of the best trips I ever did!!!!
Sammy, you must be ignorant of history and a possible Commie stooge and a very stupid individual! The RHKP, though not perfect, is conceivably one of the best police forces in the world (a wonderful blend of East and West). Your arse is grass!
Compadre Lupus A colony, if anything, enjoys more liberties than the mother country because of the lack of control from the king. Instead of the head-of-state ruling the colony a governer is instated to rule the territory instead.
Compadre Lupus You got a almost fully elected legislative council under the leadership of Mr. Chris Patten. What we are having right now however is a fake legislature with over half of the members installed by Beijing. You talk about freedom? We definitely have much more under British leadership.
As a kid growing up in the United States I used to dream of living in Hong Kong. Now I don’t even want to get near there. Just think these police have been replaced with goose-stepping tyranny’s…
Police are police. Current HK police forces are the same police that served Hong Kong years ago. Dont let idealogy demonized these men and women who job is to risk their lives to protect and serve the people of HK.
@@toomyng9015 Institution decide ones behaviour. You may have a look on the report of the HK government after the 1967 riot, how the government reflects on their policy, the cause of the riot and the corruption of the police before 1967. These show a great comparison from the government now, who follow the rule of CCP and deny any fault the government and police did in these years.
No wonder the Top Student, on my weapons instructors course, Warminster 1978 was a Wo2 Tong Tsun - Yuk Hong Kong Defence Force ( V) he was in my syndicate. Happy Days Gone By!!!!!
The winner of the baton of honour was the late Mr. Andy W. Naylor, he reached the rank of superintendent of police. He was survived by his wife and three daughters.
Amazing 1983 bit of ruc bother In belfast pi 236 to 238 Best thing in life to this day the Royal Hong Kong Police Great men and women great days Wong tai sin
Many of the first British colonists that landed in Hong Kong were Scotsmen, as were many of Hong Kong's first colonial governors. Scottish influence is also present in some of Hong Kong's place names (Aberdeen Harbour, for example). Hell, if I’m right, even the parade commander in this video sounds Scottish. Anyways, much of the original Hong Kong Police Pipe Band was made up of Westerners and with time caught the attention of the local Chinese population who joined their ranks.
It must be a march composed by the Police Force, I've marched to it so many times on that parade ground without having a single clue what it's called.. (sorry i didn't answer your question - might have some luck looking at the tracks from the RHKP concert band album(s))
Jack Leung It's a tune that I have heard many times ,driving me mad, to me its a catchy tune that as been adopted by the RHKP, lovely sound, many thanks Jack for your answer
Samuel Lai Many thanks for that answer, was driving me nuts, heard it many times but just could not give it a name, many thanks to you again made my Christmas that much better, hope that you and your family have a great new year
Can we swap them for the current Woke Rainbow Thought Police? The crime rate might drop with some discipline elan and good colonial military standards. This is everything the modern Uk police are not.
