Rhodar is delighted to announce its appointment as demolition (& associated works) contractor for the prestigious £135m Galleries redevelopment, in Wigan.
The scheme is part of an ambitious strategic regeneration programme being planned by the Council and Cityheart Limited, to reinvigorate central Wigan and provide a vibrant new retail, leisure, commercial and residential destination.
Our works encompass a six-phase, 18-month programme of soft strip, full demolition and the creation of a development platform, across the 41,000m² site footprint.
Our team will be coordinating closely with construction contractor BCEGI (UK) Ltd to enable a programme of progressive rebuild work to be undertaken, as we continue to complete other phases of our demolition activities across the site.
This video provides a unique ‘fly-through’ of the site, illustrating the scope and scale of our planned works across the former shopping centres, internal & open-air markets, multi-storey car parks and an extensive service basement area.
Works by our team commenced in early October and we’re looking forwards to playing a key role in delivering this significant new development for the town of Wigan.
