Love the Rhodia notebooks - one of those that prefer the glossy, glasslike texture of the paper when using a fountain pen. Will have to try the softcovers after watching your review.

Thanks for the comment John! It is definitely very smooth paper.

I found your channel whilst looking for MD notebook reviews and I have to say wow, this is everything I need in a stationery review. Very straight-forward, to the point without missing any features and you always provide a great reasoning for your pros and cons. Subscribed and looking forward to watching more of your videos.

You just need to find a nice large sticker to place over the logo. 😏

Haha, that's a good idea.

Hard to find the perfect notebook and paper. I prefer white paper, but much prefer a soft cover. I currently use spiral bound Rhodia lined white paper notebooks. will get one of these to try. Thanks for the video.

I agree. Finding the perfect notebook and paper is not easy.

It's a very solid notebook for the money.

Rhodia "webbies" are great. Their small softcover notebooks are good too. Not too much ghosting. Pretty good overall.

Rhodia is usually pretty consistent in their quality, although the paper on this notebook was not quite what I am used to from them.

@@BlakesBroadcast I must admit, I haven’t bought a Rhodia for a couple of months. Interesting news about a possible paper inconsistency. I’ll watch out for that. Thanks for the heads up.

Very useful to document the variance of paper the naive consumer would suppose identical.

It used to be quite a bit more consistent.

Great notebook for fountain pen!

Rhodia is usually pretty reliable for fountain pen friendly paper.

I think the Rhodia hardcover has 80 gsm pages while the one you're reviewing has 90 gsm, hence the difference in bleed and ghosting. I could be wrong though.

You are right that Rhodia does have 90 and 80gsm paper weights but in the Rhodiarama hard and soft cover notebooks they use the 90gsm weight. The Webnotebooks are also 90gsm. I had better luck with Webnotebook paper. I am not sure if it is batch variation or what but this Rhodiarama I reviewed had disappointing performance.

For everyday use it's pretty good, no bleed or feathering even with a wet inks like KWZ. The only thing I find kinda annoying is that this paper has a tendency to make the line way thinner than it should be, for exemple, my TWSBI Eco with medium nib feels like a fine. If you are using dry pen, you may run into an unpleasant surprise.

Thanks for the comment! I haven noticed that it makes my pens feel dry. What papers are you comparing it to?
@Leons0007
@Leons0007 2 года назад
@@BlakesBroadcast I mostly use Rhodia notebooks No. 18 A4 (the white one) and the wirebound No. 16's and they seem to work a little bit better with my pens than Rhodiarama. I have no idea why it is like that, but I've gotten used to it. Wet pen with wet ink solves the problem anyway.
@BlakesBroadcast

@@Leons0007 There does seem to be noticeable variation with Rhodia/Clairefontaine papers. I am not sure why that is.

Rhodia is alright. But most of my pens (majority of which have medium, broad and italic nibs) seem to write drier, and the line width of the writing on the page always appears noticeably thinner than on all the other papers, both premium and ordinary that I regularly use. I really don’t like that about Rhodia, in general.

Thanks for your comment! I never thought Rhodia paper as making my nibs feel dry but you are not the first to mention this.

That has been my experience with Rhodia as well. However, I *love* really thin lines so I'm glad to have it perform the way it does

I don’t like brand names on the front, either. Even cheap brands do this sometimes. I wish they’d put them more discreetly on the back.

I agree. Subtle branding is always better for something personal like a notebook.

Knowing how picky us fountainpen people are, they aught to give you color customization🧐
