One of my Rhododendron was basketball-sized. Without a cold frame, I found laying a low branch on the ground and covering it with a brick would produce a new, well-rooted plant the following Spring. Same with Azalea and Hydrangea.

Not much in this world more satisfying than cracking open a propagation frame and seeing new growth. I’m diggin it. I’ve always been under the impression I should nip off flower buds on rooting cutting, preserve that energy for roots. Not necessary with rhodies though, I take it?

@MikeKincaid79
@MikeKincaid79 Год назад
It would be tough for me to give you recommendations for GA, since I'm unfamiliar with the climate down there. I'm sure there's info online that can be found about it. Rhododendrons will grow in a fairly broad range of climates so you should be able to have a nice selection. One thing that I recommend people do is visit your local nurseries. They will usually have a supply of rhododendrons that will do well in your area, or be able to steer you in the right direction. I do know that azaleas are a big deal down there and grow very well.

Yes, I've got some clonex gel here now. I've used it a lot and like the results. I use if more for softwood cuttings just like you're doing with the hydrangeas. The hormodin 3 powder is a little stronger and works better for semi-hardwood and hardwood cuttings.
