2020 - "Master degree burns after a heatstroke of genius" and "Everyone in my field of vision is just crops for the harvest" are still as fire now and they were then.
First hip hop album to make me realise my love for true lyrics, wordplay, multis and changed the way I listened to all rap. If you was part of it, then thank you!
a mental plane like enola gay..im slashin open throats of back stabbers with my shoulder blades....a forge a sword from a thunder bolt, and im rubbin salt into bullet wounds just to make the slug dissolve!! fuckin ill
I have listened to both their albums literally hundreds of times over the years, and still their genius wordplay catches me off guard, it suddenly clicks and I can make the link between certain words. It's as if I had never even heard the bars before, you've got to think deep to even make the connection. They were definitely the most intelligent rappers to walk the earth.
In UK yes but definitely not in the whole world. 10+ American rappers surpass them, and there are insane lyricists rapping in languages you don't even speak so you can't understand it.
@@eloelo6944 Who are they? I can think of some on parr like K-Rino, Canibus and Passionate MC. But I've never really heard anyone with their unique abstract concepts and technical writing style. Its hard to really compare because they're in their own kinda niche sub-genre. I cant think of anyone that you could class as 'surpassing' them but theres definitely a fair few i'd class in the same league. You're right about the rappers in different languages though, some of their bars are insane!
Imagine if they had progressed together into 2016 what kind of genius/out of this world shit we'd be listening to. even now in 2016 this track goes in hard.
I remember bumping this shit in grade 9 on the bus to school. I was an angry little fuck. Im almost 23 now and its amazing looking back at how much things can change in 7 years. Only thing missing in my life is some new Rhyme Asylum.
You guys are head & shoulders above literally everyone. For the love of the gods, please, please, please brainstorm at least one more song for us. We're all waiting for it.
"I live in a glass house throwing meteorites" "I got master degree burns after a heatstroke of genius" "I'm slashing open throats of backstabbers with my shoulder blades" "I'm rubbing salt into bullet wounds just to make the slug dissolve" How does someone even come up with this stuff?!
In America this would have shook the rap world up💯 some of u guys across the pond have serious lyrical ability and raw talent in so many facets of music.. respect
@@dariusmiller4694 but he lived in the U.S for most of his life until the U.S government didn't approve his visa request and banned him from coming here
@@dariusmiller4694 it doesn’t matter where you were born it matters where you were raised J Cole was born in Germany and nobody considers him German rapper also Tupac was born in New York and everyone considers him a West Coast rapper
Obviously this track has some many quotable lines but “I haven’t started to rep yet, this is just the sound of me breathing” … is just just another level. … you’ve heard my ridiculous wordplay … but I’m not even rapping yet. Outstanding work from Possessed.
It’s up there with the best songs. I wouldn’t say the best is this one, for instance Eminem has songs on MTBMB and Side B where he has over 3 dozens of double entendres, 2pac has the best storytelling rap possibly, Kendrick writes one of the most conscious lyrics, Big L brings the deadliest punchlines… You can’t really compare these.
Detriment Hip Hop I think Immortal Technique “Obnoxious” and “Just don’t give a fuck” have better punchlines than this, also pretty much any Company Flow song has incredible punchlines
Detriment Hip Hop I don’t think even that punchline, which is a very good one, beats “I’ll bite your motherfucking style, just to make it fresher” My favorite punchline of all time however is “And every word I utter for hip hop lovers will reflect forever like two mirrors facing each other”
"I'm slashin open throats of back stabbers with my shoulder blades." Damn that part gets me every time this song is one of the illest and sickest I've heard Rhyme Asylum kills
Mr. BathroomSir This bar is even more complex then I thought. Think about the phrase “facing possessed” and how it relates to the bar. And also think about “mere thought.”
Out of this world how amazing this guys rhymes are. For those who forgot what true hip hop was, this is it. I download so much stuff its not funny, but I AM BUYING all these guys albums, best Ive ever heard. Straight Skill.
