19th century London saw two of the most sensational public scares in its long history when the enigmatic Spring Heeled Jack stalked the alleyways of the capital city and in 1888, when Jack the Ripper enacted his reign of the streets, bringing about an autumn of terror that has since become infamous. One hundred years earlier, however, the streets were stalked by another threat, one that many consider a precursor to both Spring Heeled Jack and Jack The Ripper, and one that remains, to this day, one of the strangest, most bizarre cases in the entire criminal history of London.

One never knows quite what to expect next. This is the most eclectic and thoroughly researched channel on RU-vid.

The descriptions varied so widely it was an impossible task to be sure of getting the right persons. Joshua was the epitome of "with friends like these"!! The charges vs the sentences were bonkers! A fascinating case, beautifully presented!!

At 37:44 you say Williams was born in 1867. Clearly you meant 1767. I've heard these mistakes before, and it always throws me for a loop when trying to keep all the characters in these stories straight.

London is still a loud, chaotic, and confusing place to be! 😝

Weird that the none of the women mentioned that they were carrying pouches or pockets.

Rhynwick was the dude who she didn't like. Coleman was Chad. Anne wanted Chad, not Rhynwick.

How can you concede the attacks were sexual in nature, then at the same time theorize the real culprit stopped after Williams was arrested? This type of deviant behavior won't just stop on it's own. It's a big reason why I think Williams was the culprit. As for his alibis--didn't the attacks he was on trial for happen over a year previously? Hard to verify that stuff when so much time has passed. Also, not sure why you said multiple times this was one of the most bizarre episodes you've done. Seems pretty straightforward to me: mentally ill person goes around attacking women, then the person convicted may or may not have been the attacker. Sorry Ben, but I think this is one of the most least interesting episodes you've done.
