As an American, Matthew does a fantastic job in the Americans!! I did not know about him before the show and was shocked that he is Welsh! Fantastic job doing an American accent.
As an American I have to say Rhys does a better American accent than any other British actor I've seen. Even super talents like Gary Oldman don't seem to go quite as deep.
Jon Bernstein: rhys def does a better american accent most brits in hollywood but idk about deeper than oldman! he just does a classic old school american one. i think rhys' is just more modern... 😊
Matthew Rhys is so handsome, smart, funny, self-deprecating, articulate and clever, and he masterfully copes with the annoying, narcissistic interviewer.
this is one of the best interviews i've seen with Matthew. Great interviewer, great questions from fans too. Gutted he didn't say Burton, Hopkins, Sheen as his acting greats, but hey ho, He'll be one of those names soon
One of the best shows on TV. When I first heard Matthew talk in his 'natural' voice, I said "That's the fakest English accent I've ever heard", Then I heard he was Welsh ('Rhys'. . .duurrr!!) and said, "Ah Ha!!!" Now it makes sense. But even then, it's Welsh 'lite'.
I definitely remember Matthew from B&S. Just started watching The Americans on Singapore cable, and absolutely love it! Didn't realize he's Welsh - perfect American accent wow! Can't wait to see him as Darcy in Death Comes To Pemberley. :)
What is with the interviewer? The good thing about working in America is that we don't know where any accents are from? We are the land of accents! Geez guy.
In The Americans, there are times he reminds me of James McAvoy. Maybe the facial expressions? Not really sure, but he does. I thought he's an American for real :)
Nyams M I think JM's accent can't be beat. MR's sounds a tad...off. Not effeminate, but not quite "American". This was the case with Hugh Laurie too. He had that lisp to him.

It is so wierd that he keeps insulting matthew and americans, which i find odd considering he is in america doing his job for americans interviewing a hugely talented actor saying his accent is bad when if you asked an american theyd say it wasnt. . .this is making me feel uncomfortable just watching it
Крутой сериал, впервые русских нормально сняли. Причем самый смак, что они так то злодеи, это мы в России воспринимаем их как надо, а у американцев наверняка легкий когнитивный диссонанс. У нас бы так снять не смогли, все таки американцы впереди планеты всей. Да и русские шпионы у них круче, чем у самих русских.
first season GREAT!!! had me hooked... second season, pretty good... THIS season.. I hope it gets better - im gettin bored. 3/25/15 almost really put me asleep :( to me... its just starting to get a little dull. (the beginning of season 3 was good though)
I mean when Matthew talks about 80's technology with the phones that you had to dial around-But in them episodes they have another phone that have buttons lol- Also every few months in the 80's there would be new technology advances-Like the PC's they use in the FBI by 1982 they are outdated!
No he not gay, he is dating a co- star from Americans Keri.He play 3 gay characters but this not mean that he is many actors do that and ppl assume that in real life was gay
