I'm sure I missed some, but in addition to those... "Tell us what you want" gets Tambourine for the call and response, but at "get with my friends," the games incorporate numerous characters "Cause I'm in hell" with Lockstep as a possible Lockstep Hell reference? "We're all stars now" for Fan Club, not only about pop stars, but lines up perfectly with the clapping "Devious stares in my direction" for the blank stare at the screen
2:36 intentionally failing the perfect to hit the high note is so goddamn brilliant i am in awe. edit: AND HE REPLACED THE GLASS SHATTERING EFFECT WITH THE FAIL SOUND
I wouldn't expect any less from Fruit because he's really good at this kind of detail, but I always love when the controls are consistent across game transitions. The fact that you start Glee Club holding the stylus down, and it flips back and forth with Splashdown where you keep the stylus up during rest. Also at the end when it sped through Fork Lift > Lockstep > Tap Troupe > Munchy Monk > Flipper Flop > Dog Ninja all while keeping the same rhythm. It's masterful
The way some parts flow into each other with held inputs or continued beats show some real understanding of game design that is sometimes lacking from other fan made RH remixes. This level is brutally difficult, but actually playable. Great job overall.
Yeah, the intent shouldn't be to blow the fuck out of other players with intense charting, but to instill a strong sense of satisfaction in the cues when followed well
You’re so right! One of the biggest things needed for a custom remix to feel “real”- and beyond that, satisfying!- is for the called-for inputs to remain the same until the sequence is done, even if mid-game transitions occur. (hopefully that sentence makes sense LMAO)
@@emmett4733 yeah if you're expecting to press a at a certain timing, then it swaps, the timing for the first beat stays the same and only changes on the second beat of the new phase
I think he did it to help with gameplay, on the ds ver, you had to hold the styles to keep the divers under, which then leads into the chorus kids, which you also have to hold the stylus down. Makes for a smooth transition between minigames.
at the beginning i wondered why you left in the little perfect p and it made for a moment that had me literally laughing at a rhythm heaven remix thanks fruit
That Lockstep/Tunnel swap is so good. A triumphant character arc for Fruit that began when he first pogged to that one remix in RH:DS. 10/10 better than Endgame
I haven't played or gone through Rhythm Heaven playlists in a long time, so I don't remember all the games' names, but: 1:04 THE INTERVIEWED WRESTLER FOR "EVERYBODY, ROCK YOUR BODY" 1:25 THE SURPRISINGLY SATISFYING WIDGETS ROLLING 1:36 THE OUTER SPACE DANCERS AT "INTERGALACTIC PLANETARY" 3:17 THE NON-INTERACTING-WITH GRAYFRUIT FOR "STARES IN MY DIRECTION" Lots and lots more parts I love too, but those stood out the most to me. This remix is so FUN!!
Oh this is beautiful my god (I also binge-listened to Running With Scissors when I was younger. Safe to say this is one of my favorite polkas.) You made this song seem like it was made for Rhythm Heaven! PERFECT!
Genuinely a well made Remix. The game choices fit so well for each section of the song, the mid-game transitions are on point, the little comedic moments tie the whole thing together. Tenouttaten. This should be your full time job.
my god, you have raised the bar SO high for rhythm heaven custom remixes, these are far and away the most well thought-out and best-sounding remixes i’ve ever seen. it’s a goddamn art form you’ve mastered
in the future when rhythm heaven custom remix playthrough videos are a mainstream art form this will be the thing that keeps coming up in textbook footnotes as the first recorded use of rhythm heaven custom remix cinematic techniques that we take for granted now
Wow this is incredibly well made! I really appreciated all the build up you put into this, especially that gray fruit at the end haha I downloaded it though I'm terrible at these Heaven Studio mixes lmao
The running bit with the rock potato was fantastic, to pay off with devious stares in my direction and the double pay off of actually having a single hair to pluck near the end Beautiful
