I tried composing music with only a small and cheap MIDI keyboard.
I was surprised that I could compose songs even with this size keyboard, and the left hand stick is very useful. (Model: Nektar - Impact GX Mini)

You can play vibrato by tilting the left stick up, and you can raise or lower the pitch by shaking it left or right, and raise or lower the octave with the Oct switch.
