John, Feb 1965. The Cascades were playing in San Diego. I was a kid of 17 in the navy wearing my uniform and I saw your name on the Marquis. I went in. You guys sounded great. But the bouncer would not let me in. You came out on break and came over to talk to me. and I asked if you all could do "Rythmn of the Falling Rain" .. You opened up the next set and to a lonely, kid in the navy, the Cascades Sang that song just for the guy who stood in the doorway and couldn't come in. What a thrill !
John Gummoe and the lads still rock! I especially liked their 'modern' interpration of their timeless classic. Dont you ever wish you were a teen in the sixties? I do!!
the awesome thing was that you invited me to Chula Vista where you all were recording your new album. Yeah This 65 year old in Christian music, was that kid. There I was in the studio with the hottest group in America watching them record their new album. John, Thank you all for the precious memory that is still with me. Blessings to you all.
I like so very much-a new touch to a beautiful old classic. I may have fallen in love to the sounds of this song when I was in high school. Good ole days filled with wonderful music. I mean REAL music>
this song made me remember to the time when i was a child. god. i'm only 20, i think this song is the beginning of all modern music today, such as the songs of westlife, backstreetboy, linkin park, even eminem. Love cascade and all of them.
Thanks John, hope you see this.As a 16 year old kid I loved this song and as a 65 year old man I still do.I really love the mellowed update which is in my mind a matured improvement of the original.
WoWWW...for the fist time I see Cascade.. !! For long I only know them by the rhythm on the rain and finally they create a new and better... Great performance ! Thanks for uploader !
I was a member of the cascades from 1968 to 1970..We had to play this song at least 3 times a night if we were working in a club. Great tunes never grow old.
OMG this is as awesome as the original,i love bith versions,oh yeah absolutely awesome thank you guys,is so gr8 to hear you all again.but wish i could have seen you live
40 plus years after the original and the cascades made this heavenly song an original once again. Very seldomly is the sequel any good, but this guys knocked it out of the park. These guys belong in the hall of fame along with all the oldies bands that paid their dues.
This is the first "favorite song" I can remember having as a child. I still have the 45 record. Hard to believe these guys still sound this good after all these years. Especially the vocals.
OMG this is as awesome as the original,i love bith versions,oh yeah absolutely awesome thank you guys,is so gr8 to hear you all again.but wish i could have seen you live, oh pull ya head in daddyluv, only dead one is you
Very very Beautiful Job this band does. Brought tears to my eyes when I watched this video, and tears are running down my cheek as I write this message. thank you for this upload.....and I thank the band for making the universe just that much more beautiful to exist in
At 69 y/o, I'm more wistful than ever at hearing this version. So sad, so much like the loss I now feel. Getting old is just so damn--damn hard!!! Wolfsky9
+Wolfsky9 I have to agree with you Wolfsky9. The hardest part for me is knowing that we cannot turn back the hands of time so that our children and grand children could live in the America that I grew up in. Yes we had Vietnam but we also shared a patriotism that todays generation would not believe. We also were blessed with music that became a part of our every-day lives. Yes I too miss the sixties jab363
You know, the only love I have ever know has gone away since she is looking for a brand new start.... What a fool I have been.... :WTF Like this song so much...
@RAINSONG4U your voice is still so beautiful and this is a very touching rendition! yes, i also have cried to your original, and consider it to be one of the all-time classics. i am so glad you have gotten to see the impact your composition has had on several generations. we all thank you!
This is AWESOME ! I am a child of the 60's and this was one of my favorite songs. The remake of this in my opinion shows what aging should be. Alive and exciting at youth, and mellow and relaxed with age. Hope that makes sense.
How could anyone put a dislike on this? This is great, original and clever version of one of the top American standards of te 60s...John Gummoe's voice is just as pure as the day it was recorded in 1962....this is REAL music with a clever and creative spin....kudos to the group....keep playing !!!!!
I remember listening to this song ...the original version when I was young, in fact my dad when to high school with one of the members....good music, its when it actually ment something rather than words spoken.
I am from Brasil, esta musica me faz lembrar minha juventude, minha primeira namorada, minha primeira professora. realmente uma grande perfomance. obrigado del
thank you too. i am honored and i am sure admirers of your music all are that you give your new reflections on your wonderful music. i'm a classical musician and quite familiar with its own vocal repertoire and imo, GOOD music and performing is GOOD music, no matter the genre...and you have all enriched the world's legacy of wonderful artistic works , sincerely done. I think that is what matters most. MORE power to you!!
their voices have endured decades of performances and they still sound as good if not better than the recordings from the sixties, i can only hope to have such discipline
I agree with johnh85 i loved the original version but this grows on u and I am listiening to this more and more ..This brings back so many memories they keep flooding in .......Great song !! Wish i could go back but we all we can't and some times thats not fiar ..........Hagd everyone and just sit back close ur eyes and let your mind just float away and enjoy the song!!!!
A very different flavor!! Nice .. good to see these veterans never stop re-inventing themselves .. whos u can't teach old dogs new tricks! :) 2 thumbs up!
They sung that song in Araneta Coliseum in Philippines, I was there, I was not on earth yet during their heyday, but I like their song.. I love it infact... classic and sensible...
A lovely different way with the old hit...a James Taylor vibe in there. Such a nice "bookend" to the original, done by a great bunch of musicians who have nothing left to prove and who are just relaxing with their music.
they took the 60's out of it, the original is such a period signature of our lives, when we were young, hard to beat such original emotions recovered every time we listen to the original version. Not for me, this one.
it is not necessarily better or lesser. they are just different expressions from different times of their lives. the old one reflected their youth..the way a teen might feel intense feelings with his early love...the new one shows life's accumulated richness...the voices actually became RICHER as they aged, as their variations showed richness too. BRAVO !
