This would be hard as I am a fan of both company's. So for the best bang for your buck I like RIA! For collection I would go with 617 as I love my Smith's!

i know the feeling 😂🤣😂🤣 the RIA is ok, not sure it is that great of a value for the money though, maybe if you give it some time and can pick up good used one

oh, worth notng, in case you do pick one up, might check out the quick review video on the RIA, there was an issue with the cylinder stop

Do you happen to have any holsters for the S&W? Would be interesting to see if the AL22 fits into 617 holster.

Sadly I was not able to keep this, RIA wanted it back. It has gotta be pretty darn close.

@CloverTac Any more issues with the AL22? How many rounds through it so far, roughly? I'm not sure if its reliable?

i don't have very much insight or experience with it to be honest. it was only on loan from RIA for a short time so who knows how well it will hold up long term. in my opinion RIA has really fallen behind over the last few years with things, so long term the AL22 would worry me. at the AL22 price point, a used 617 is 100% a better way to go in my humble opinion. i do have a couple more videos with this one if you wanna check those out, maybe they will help add to the insights a bit... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gmiH0-5g6F8.html and ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZxEzqQyResU.html

I started to collect 22 and 22 mag revolvers, don't know why but something about a good quality revolver attracts me.

Is the price difference worth getting the Smith or could you save the price difference, get the ARMSCOR, and still be reasonably happy…?

hmm, well, first, i am not real sure what either are bringing in today's market or how availability is.... so all that aside, i got S&W all day every day for sure, it is well worth the extra in my opinion. i was not sad when the RIA had to go back but would CRAY LIKE A BABY if i had to sell my 617

The 617 is no longer made by S&W. You will be luckier to find an honest politician than a 617 today.

Your older 617 came standard with Uncle Mikes rubber grips. The new ones like mine came with Hogue rubber grips. The Uncle Mikes fit me better, and I changed out my new 617 Hogues with Pachmyers

about the only major difference between a L frame (686) and a K frame (617) is the cylinder diameter

hi i own an alpha proj 3541s 357mag revolver czech republic construction for it is good value for money it is not an s & w but it does well

Came to see the RIA AL22, specifically the OTHER side because I wanted to see if they both have the two flat screws on both side…..a side by side review but never bothered to show both sides of each gun? Just some constructive criticism but I’m guessing many people contemplating buying either gun would want to see the guns in their entirety, not just one side.

i don't have this one anymore, only had it on a 90 day loan. but, i have other videos and even IG pictures of it i am sure. don't know if that helps, and not much i can do for ya at this point... maybe someone else had done a better job
