The Royal International Air Tattoo takes place at RAF Fairford airbase in the heart of England every July, and is one of the largest gatherings of military aircraft anywhere in the world.
Despite the reduced involvement of the US armed forces in recent years it still attracts some serious participation from other NATO air arms, and puts on a full 8 hour flying display.
At the end of the weekend a number of flying display awards are given out to the show display teams, and are highly sought after.
This is the first of 3 video instalments I will be uploading on airshowvision channel celebrating the displays which were selected by the judging panel as the best of the best, and features the display teams from Northern Europe, which scooped three major awards in total.
The Finnish Air Force McDonnnell Douglas (Boeing) F/A18 Hornet was the biggest winner with two awards, and the Swedish Air Force SAAB Gripen taking one award.
