As part of an exhibition display celebrating the RIBA Royal Gold 2023 medallist Yasmeen Lari, RIBA interviewed Lari and asked her a series of questions about the architecture profession. Here are her responses.
Held in the Practice Space at 66 Portland Place, London from 12 June to 9 September 2023, the display celebrated Pakistan’s first female architect. Lari is Co-Founder and CEO of the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan. She is an author, architectural historian, conservationist, philanthropist, and humanitarian.
Lari namesake architectural firm designed some of the most iconic projects in Pakistan until Lari retired in 2000 to focus on heritage conservation and humanitarian architecture. The display highlights her latest projects, featuring zero carbon footprint concepts drawn from vernacular traditions.
