I could listen to Flair all day long. He's a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the world of sports entertainment. Everything he says makes perfect sense.
Right? He started a podcast with Conrad years ago and then it just fell off it seemed. That’s when Conrad started doing a Bruce Prichard and Eric Bischoff and what not. I never understood why flare stopped doing it because he was really in need of money back then and obviously this is a good financial decision
I was there when you beat Vader for your 11th World championship in 1993. My graduation year right there in Charlotte. Starcade. One hell of a show. Very fond memories on my end. The main events to beat all at the time. Woooooo! I am so honored to have grown up during what I consider the golden age of wrestling. 1975-2000. I can't thank you enough for everything you have done through the years. You treated us right Rick and gave it everything you had every single time.
i always was under the impression that the reason NWA guys never quite got over in WWF/WWE was simply because of Vince JR. he did it to just about every NWA star. i may be wrong, but i seriously doubt that i am. look at Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Tully & Arn, Vader. i could go one and on. he would not allow another promotions great starts to shine here in the north east. it was a clown show. even the Road Warriors were not above Vince's bookings. again, i can listen to Ric all day, every day. he alone is the most entertaining man i have ever watched/ listened to. his experience alone, with his comic self is incredible. i cannot ever say enough about the Great Ric Flair. been watching You Sir for almost 50 years. there will Never be another Nature Boy. your match against Vader was easily one for the ages.
I was 12 years old in 1986, Crockett was the best wrestling in America to me! Thank you Mr. Flair for all the beatings and bumps you took to entertain all of us over all these years. To us true old school wrestling fans you are like a God. If there’s ever a Mount Rushmore for wrestling then you should be on it sir. God bless the Nature Boy and his family.
Ric is forgetting one time his family was there. I don't blame him, he can't remember everything. Or maybe he just meant in the crowd. I was backstage at Slamboree 97 in Charlotte. During the show a huge rv pulles up out back. It was massive. Ric's dad, mom, wife Elizabeth, Reid and Ashley came out of it. I got to talk to each one. Ric never stopped smiling.
Ric Flair as baby face never made sense because he's the best heal . You got to have great Heals to have great baby faces . Hogan had piper and Andre to really build of hulkamania. There are countless faces that Flair put to the top like Sting and many others
He has a very popular sports talk radio show where I live in Pittsburgh. That’s kinda just how he talks for whatever reason. I imagine he is mostly trying project his voice but I suppose it does sound a bit like he is shouting. Perhaps I’m just used to it.
Why didn't Vader make it in WWE Maddon asks, the Road Warriors already answered that question in one of their interviews, Sean did sexual favors for Vince and his crony's.
The only thing he’s a “expert” in is having the same damn match every single time for 40 years and doing them hokey bumps over the turnbuckle etc flair = over rated. P S he was hiding in his room when sid stabbed arn. pussy ✂️
Bret Hart is the master because he could show up to the match as a baby face and switch to heel in the match if he is facing another baby face. Then leave the match as a baby face as if he didn’t just work heel. Vs Bulldog 1992
Vader was one of my favorites, but I guess I'm in the minority about Starrcade 93 being a great match. The size difference made it difficult for Flair to do anything except punch, I thought Race interfered too much in the early stages, and I didn't like the finish. The crowd carried the match though, the most excitement for a WCW house in years. RIP Vader, arguably the greatest monster heel of all time.
No bud you're not in the minority imo... I loved the fact that Vader was so much bigger that all Ric could do was punch back as best he could and really be" the dirtiest player the game" when the opportunity was there and yeah I hated the finish too but match was awesome ! I was around 10 at the time
To bad Vader and Yokozuna didn't lose weight. That's why they died. Jim Ross made them go to the clinic. But that wasn't enough. Alcohol killed Andre the Giant.
I will never forget Starcade 93 , Flair winning his 11 th World title from Vader was such a classic match, I also remember his matches against Rick Rude from earlier in the year those were Great too, My 2 favorite wrestlers growing up were Ric Flair and Rick Rude who was one of the greatest heels of all time, that guy was a cool bad guy before being bad was cool
Yeah I loved rude too...he was a great performer who absolutely should have been world champion in wwe. He held the international world title in wcw when they had 2 versions of the worlds title. But hes still not credited as being a actual world champion.
Ric Flair is the man! I thought it was weird seeing Flair be a face in that match but it's still a fun match to watch. Vader is my favorite wrestler of all time. He wasn't a big promo guy like Ric Flair but he was so big and intimidating that when there was a microphone by him, you knew shit was gonna get real when it was his turn to wrestle. Kinda like when Brock Lesnar wrestles nowadays. I think Lesnar is more like Vader than Braun Strowman
I think i emember watching that match think live thinking wow did Vader knock his tooth out? It was brutal and you could tell it was physical. Great match and very entertaining. I actually met Vader years later. He was very polite and very different outside character.
I met Vader at my local airport. He was in a wheelchair. And I saw his Rams Ring. I came up and said hello Leon! How are you doing today? He got a big smile on his face, and said, I am tired! He just came from Japan. He was genuinely happy to be recognized and talked to and greeted.
@@jamie.777 The devil is in the details. For Flair’s track record in the sport, I think he needs a producer or cohost that can elevate the podcast to the proper stature. But I am just glad he’s lasted all these years and lived to tell his stories.
Ash has already solidified herself as the GWOAT easily. When she turned heel and slap the shit out of Rick years ago I KNEW THEN she had really found herself. She's amazing.
It's funny, I thought Vader was the most vicious guy of all time when I was a kid, then you watch his shoot interviews and he was ridiculously easy going and charming, you could easily have had a few beers with the guy and been thoroughly engaged in his stories
I remember watching this and I know the exact point he got his mouth busted and almost bit his tongue off. Vader hit him in the mouth with a clothesline as Ric jumped off the top rope. Ric called him a SOB lol
I can understand why Vader wouldn't want to drop the title but he wouldn't screw anyone over. He was stiff, we all can agree on that but he didn't intentionally hurt people (He never intended to hurt Joe Thurman or Foley)
Hbk said Vader never washed his uni and that's why he hated wrestling him. I think Shawn was just afraid to actually fight back. Although I could see Vader have that football pad jock strap smell to him lol. Mark madden great host for this podcast.
I was going to say Dusty Rhoades was a guy that never had to change, baby face or heel. He was always the same dude as well. There was a time in WCW when everyone was a babyface and everyone was a heel... the only difference was what was going on in the specific feud happening at the time. Ric vs Nikita, Ric was a good guy. Then Nikita got to be a part of the Super Powers and was a good guy, so when Ric and Nikita matched up Ric was the heel. Dusty was baby face and heel a lot.
EVERY TIME I hear Mark Madden’s Voice, I hear him say, from back around 2000 or 2001, “did she just call Rey Mysterio a puppy?” * she called him Papi during the filthy animals days*
LOOKED LIKE A REAL FIGHT to me. Vader is not a nice guy. I always thought Rick was just a great entertainer but when he started fighting back after them brutal cross faces I think Rick earned a lot of respect from everyone that night.
The very next night Ric was in Winston-Salem,NC. I remember because I got a picture of you and my 9 year old son. I ask you how your lip was. You said fine tank you.
This Mark Madden clown should stop screaming. I always want to watch Ric and listen to him but turn it off after 2 minutes due to the annoying yelling.
