Ole was/would have been a great booker in the small, contained wrestling industry of the 1970s/80s. But after Hulkamania shifted the dynamics of the industry, he became obsolete and bitter that he was never able to create his own version of a Hulk Hogan or a Randy Savage, or heck, even a Ted DiBiase
Idc how great he was you can’t treat people like he does and not expect to have people feel angry towards you no matter how good at your job you are or were. Why do we give people who are garbage bag humans a slide or a pass just because they are famous? I’ll never understand this
Both grew up in the golden age of wrestling and in a system nobody can understand today. Flair had a routine that could adapt to the style of the wrestler he was facing. Flair even admits it in his books. But back in the day it didn’t matter because television wasn’t the hot shit and you could even have a title change in Puerto Rico without anybody knowing. When television became front and center Flair had the problem by becoming stale because fans saw that his matches followed the same patterns over and over again. This is what Flair also accepts as fact in his book. But he changed enough and adapted. Flairs legacy is untouchable, a lot of his matches are classics. But his in ring work can’t hardly keep up with some of today’s generation, but that isn’t necessary. For his time and for the decades he was in the business he hold up very well.
His not a legend in my eyes - he was boring and not worth a crap, Bret Hart, Stone Cold, The Rock, Hulk Hogan, Tito Santana were way above him - Ric Flair only got over due to the fans and Booking him as a winner of Matches.
Well those of us who remember the territory days would certainly remember ole as a booker. But ole is certainly wrong. Flair, while being a shit human being, was a great pro wrestler in the 80s and early 90s. This cannot be denied. But he was essentially a joke after 95.
I'm guessing that Ole shoot is about 20 years old. He's become even more bitter in recent years lol. Though I think he suffers from MS and dementia now.
The horseman Was/Is One Of Or Is The Best Wrestling Stables & Ole Anderson Was Only Part Of The Group A Short Time I remember Him Turning & Not being A Heel So he turned Against The Group.Flair One of the best mic Person in wresting & Was a Good Wrestler in my opinion
Was there better wrestlers than Fliar, yes. Ric is one of if not the most Iconic wrestler. Funny Hogan is in the same lens. 2 of the most Iconic wrestlers weren't the best wrestlers. So with that beung said, wrestling is more than what you can do in the ring. Promos and attracting crowds is the biggest part. They drew money as champions so say what you want.
@@alwilson3204 "Flair wasn't near the draw you think he was, that's one reason why kept taking the belt of him " Well that's not true. He was the world champion 9 times when he was with NWA" Learn how to state facts rather than lies next time. Thanks
Whether Ric was/is overrated is obviously a matter of opinion, but his longevity, legacy and aura can't be denied. Even in his advanced age, for better or worse, he is still the "Nature Boy".
This is why Vince McMahon used terms like "entertainment business." Putting aside the serious issues such as being unsafe to work with, it doesn't matter if you "have the same match every night," or "build a career on show." It matters that people show up to watch you wrestle, turn the TV channel to watch you wrestle, buy your merchandise, etc. Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair represented two very 80's stereotypes: Hogan represented the all-American larger than life good guy, who wanted you to follow the three demandments of Hulkamania brother, the training, the sayin' your prayers and eatin' your vitamins, while Ric Flair represented the greedy, arrogant, rich yuppie who everyone hated but was jealous of, Whoooo! The two of them made wrestling larger than it ever had been.
Flair the wrestler yes over rated now how he presented the character top notch and one of the greatest and the 2 main wrestlers who made wrestling huge is Hogan & Flair say the names and you'll get either a strut or a Brother
Ric is known all over the world. If he pops up on the screen or enters an arena, everybody knows what you're going to hear...Whoooooo! Ric touches all four corners of the earth Like Ali Reagan and Jesus. Who TF is Ole? At best the king of shelby or gastonia!
The only difference is and what people forget to remember is Wrestling is a "Work" - As one of the best quotes from King Kong Bundy "It's two grown men in their underwear pretending to fight" there is no winner or loser in Wrestling, it's pre-determined Therefore Ric Flair is only seen a legend due to die-hard wrestling fans.
Flair’s deal from his own mouth. “Wrestling changed so I had to adapt and change.” Anything against Brody, Race, the Von Erich Family, Funk. That’s wrestling as good as it’s ever been. The wild brawls that weren’t televised. Career it’s Flair no question. NWA Flair was a tough dude.
I'm a die hard wrestling fan from the Golden and Attitude era of WWF and a massive fan of WCW but i have to say - I Will Never Get nor Understand the whole Ric Flair legend hype - to me he was just an old looking man even when he was younger , kinda like the steve martin thing - who had a small arsenal of moves "one of which was wooo" i have never seen a Ric Flair match which made me think wow or got engrossed in - i found him boring at best and lets be honest here "Wrestling is a work" other than putting in the hours and having wrestling in his blood i respect that but common really, i thought i was of a minority until i found Ole Anderson and Shane Douglas tell it how it is.
@@thewrestlingtimemachine LOL - seing that added to the argument. Funk lead that match for one thing and again the move set of Flair was bare minimum - If i had a Dollar for every chop by Flair i wouldn't be here replying in my multi million dollar mansion dude ;) ..
That's funny because Shane Douglas actually thinks Flair is the greatest to have done it so I don't know where you get that from and judging by your post history about Flair, sounds like to me you're too young
Bruno was the most successful wrestler of his era and he was really really bitter the last 20-30 years of his life. Like Ole, Bruno had that old man thing going on, that he was never wrong and everyone else sucks....
@@FuzzyWuzzy75 No but old people lose their filter and say shit out loud; they seem to give less of a F**** the older they get. Like the old men in the locker room that never cover themselves up....lol
@@pulsarlights2825 Well that's kind of true. I am 49 now and I give less of a fuck now about what people think of me or what I have to say than I did at 19. I figure I will be in trouble in another 20 years because I generally didn't give that much of a shit about these things at 19 lol. But that is liberating! When you say what you really think people may not always like it but more often than not they respect you for not bull shitting them.
@pulsarlights2825 only on the weekends and I watched this video today so yeah I guess I'm pretty funny 😅 but anyways ole was never a marquee member of the four horseman and thats a fact jack.
Of course honestly I am bias Because I've always loved Ric If I watched him in the ring. He entertained me. If Ric was talking he made me laugh All that being said Ole is bitter If we are talking about wrestling or life itself There really is no sense to be bitter about the past Because very simply The past is over and can't be changed. Thanks for the video RV
@@thewrestlingtimemachine Oh awesome! And I completely agree Ric Flair is certainly not without faults of his own. I'm not blinded by anyone's celebrity status. But also I've mentioned to you before I happened to meet him in person by complete chance. (In 2016 I think it was or 17) I talked to him for about 10 minutes maybe a little more. He couldn't have been a sweeter nicer guy to me personally. He absolutely didn't have to do that And I'll never forget it 👍
