First, I have to say your vid is very helpful, esp. the method transforming the Riccati eq into a linear 2nd order eq. But I have a question about the method here: when we assume the form y = y1 + 1/v and plug it in the general Riccati eq then carry out, that only proves the form y = y1 + 1/v is a solution of the Riccati eq not that the form y = y1 + 1/v is the general solution of the Riccati eq? Please, correct me if I misunderstand anything.

Can you tell me the name of the book from which you have taught

Thanks for the question @Manisha Thakur! This is not based on any particular book as such. Material is quite standard, so you can find each of the methods in several books/articles, but not all methods in one place, though Murphy's Ordinary Differential Equations and Their Solutions is generally regarded as golden source. Hope this helps!

@@quantpie Thankyou so much Sir. Can you please tell me what is riccati polynomial?
@quantpie

This would refer to the special form of Riccati equation in which the coefficients (a, b, and c) are polynomial functions. This form facilitates algorithmic approach to the solution - as there are theorems which gives the list of solution one has to try. It can also be used in reverse order - for example one might want the solution to take a particular form, and then infer the Riccati equation.

Or is it in the sense of algebraic Riccati equation / matrix Riccati equation, which arises in the optimal control theory? Then it refers to the first equation in this article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algebraic_Riccati_equation
