It’s starting to “pulsate” due to getting too far away from what you’re welding. Try to keep the same distance as you weld. But get gas it will help out a lot

get some 75/25 75% argon, 25% oxygen for mig, that doesn’t look or sound like flux core wire but if it is, pull the puddle

Flux core wire usually welds better if the welder is set to dc negative, just swap the terminals

When you mig welding you need to make sure the mig torch wire is kinked or bent. Try and keep it in a nice curve and no tight bends. That should help with the stuttering and you might need a touch more wire feed. Also check to make sure the wire spool isn't set to tight.

I've swapped bearings in a friend's truck as a last effort to save it and it's still running. Obviously no hard abuse just daily driving but it's been like 8 months. Similar how it happened too. Out in some trails, he ran it a few quarts low like an idiot and we heard it start knocking. Shut it down and pulled him the rest if the way back to the road and didn't run the truck till it had new bearings. I'd say try it for now just to see. It's cheap and good content. Just pay attention to how the bearings come out. Make sure you know which one is the upper and which one is the lower. Upper has a groove in it.

WELDING TIP: Turn your feed speed down, amps up slightly and keep the tip 1/2" from the metal. Warm up "Practice" on scrap before you weld on the car. Your going to have to play with it to find the right setting.

Brother... make sure your mig lead is always as straight as it can be that pulsing is probably the wire binding in the liner due to the kinks in the lead. Also check your polarity is right for the gasless wire and make sure to have a clean tip that’s the same size as the wire your using. That Lincoln is capable of money welds. Have you thought about checking out copart or iaai.com? You can get some pretty nice cars in your area. I would inspect the car more before you destroy it all those shavings looked like that where from cutting the filter open.

Make sure your welder polarity is set to flux/gasless. You want a constant arc not like flashing. Turn wire feed up and try to dial it in that way.

If I remember right those welders come with flux core (grey) and solid core wire (brown). Flux core will shield without gas (works well for outdoor use) but I would definitely get an argon/co2 mix. It also sounds like your settings are way off on the welder. Best of luck to you.

I'm sure most of that metal that was in the filter came from cutting it open with a sawzaw. That's why they make a special tool that works like a can opener so it doesn't contaminate the filter by cutting it open.

Open the the door on the welder and read the settings chart and set the welder up accordingly. That will be a good start. But flux core does suck but it can be easily done. Also you have to swap polarities for flux and gas. It will say inside the welder door. There's 2 big wires bolted to the welder inside. Check to make sure it's set for flux

K20 is where your honda luck starts, k24 for the torque monster, k20a2 for that nice rev range and long pulls

Change the bearings you can have it up and running in less than a day

You can get co2 gas for a mig welder, if your welder dose Tig aswell you can use argon gas, on tig welders you can set pulse on or off check your setting

Slap new bearings in it and send it

If there was another option of a vote, I’d say definitely consider the k-series can be expensive though. With that said I totally understand why you would lean towards just throwing in a b-series you already have for it. K-swap in that CRX would be sick too.

when fluxcore welding make sure the ground clamp is wired to positive. just a quick tip if it is sputtering way bad.

You should try out stick welding, no gas needed. I've only done the basics for a class in high school, but it's simple. Learning how to strike an arc is probably the most difficult part but it doesn't take long to get the hang of it. It's also more portable because you don't need a tank. Just the rods, electrode holder, welder, and ground.

Get flux core and drag when you are welding. It pulses because your wire isnt coming out fast enough and its burning out up high and loses arc and then regains it as the wire comes back out of the tip enough to touch. You should have the tip of the welder about 3-5mm from the metal. You can make a great weld without gas, I welded my exhaust on my cobalt ss after only welding about an hour total. I just bought rectangles of weldable steel from Lowe's. Practice spot welds, then when you get a good at the spot welds you can practice putting them together to stack them.

Hey Chris, Long time fan of the channels, in my limited experience as a welder, i would say that you need to keep the welding "pistol" closer to the materiale you Are welding, or step up the speed of wich the wire cones out.. Chefers keep up my daily before breakfast video, cheers!

Hey check the polarity. With flux core welding you need electrode negative. That's exactly what happens when you have it backwards. With practice flux welds can be nice and strong.

I reckon try and put new bearings. Be a good experiment to see if it fixes it

Definitely throw the b18 in there. Theyre such good motors. Some guy is making 430 whp on a bone stock b18b boosted.

Reason the welder was pulsing is because you are moving the tip to far away.. keep the tip about 1 inch away no farther! Good luck!

That macine welds very very good with or without gas ! Also make sure your using the fluxcore gas and check your posts of positive and negative it’s different when your welding without gas ! If you need help with it reply and ill help you

The iddle air control valve does not need a gasket. Check to make sure that one fits you're intake and also check it to make sure it's not a bad iddle air control valve try cleaning it.

That’s what my old Accord used to do, the idle would pulse 1k-2k rpms in neutral.

If it's flux cored try flipping the polarity on the welder. Swap the torch and clamp plugs over. Either that or the cabling going to the outlet your using is real small and can't carry enough amps

Put new bearing in it, and keep it going . Also please get some argon/Co2 mix 75/25 will help with welding dirty steel.

these engine failure videos are great for documentation because nobody really documents their engine failures right when it happens, and so tearing the engine down and finding the culprit is great not only entertainment but also for future technical knowledge. Definitely tear the engine down, put new bearings, torque everything to spec, get the rocker clearances measured to spec, and a proper tune by Jack would definitely be a plus too. If the rod isn't bent, then everything is fine for boost. Also, the welder, some welders have specific amounts of time they can be used constantly before getting janky, like 5 second intervals.

I’m building my b20v, it’s my second b20, the first one I blew the head, shot a rocker arm out of the head, but the block has held. B20s aren’t as bad if you treat it right Chris, treat it like a car you actually give a shit about and it’ll last. Not hating at all, always been a big fan. Just putting forth some advice from my stand point.

Next time use a pair of hand held sheet metal shears and cut the oil filter open at the rolled/folded top edge kinda like those fancy safety can openers cut open cans of soup an such. I've been doing it that way for years, it takes some effort unless the shears are new but you get absolutely no metal shavings from the process.

b20s have a small piston wall , throw a block guard in the next engine!!!!!! helps alot!!

B20 holds boost no problem but not with stock internals and stock head. B20 bottom with pistons and a GSR/Type R head boosted on low compression and you are golden.

Flux core wire is silver or gray mig wire will be copper colored. Easiest way to tell. Also flux core leaves slag mig will be pretty much just metal

Swap the Rotas from the ricer miata on to the civic and put these on the Miata, the spacing doesn’t look too much different, the rotas have a little more negative offset but they should fit

Put some acl race bearings clean the pick up tube and put a washer in the oil pump spring its a allen key slot, to bump up the oil pressure.. use thicker oil aswell and send it.
