Riceville, IA Siren Test (it got worse)

After hearing a video from a farmer last week where you could hear the Thunderbolt sounding awfully worse than I last remembered it sounding, I figured I'd swing by to check up on the town and see how their sirens are doing. I think this test was the lowest, and highest pitch this bolt has ever been seen running...
Sirens in Mitchell County, IA are tested every Saturday. Riceville, McIntire, and Stacyville are tested at 11AM (normally for 3 minutes), and Osage, St Ansgar and Mitchell test at noon (normally for a minute).

TBH, the T-128 should be enough for the town at this point. There is just no way in heck that this drunk sounding piece of crap they call a siren is up to any value, at all.

Dude, you should hear how bad it sounded when Dylan recorded it last month in -16°F wind chills. The pitch fluctuated literally about twice as much as it did here, and it took a minute for the chopper to even start.

The sad thing is the 1003 sounds good when it’s actually working on full blast (2:15 for like 5 seconds) except it’s drunk

No, Riceville is a quite small town. They have an STH-10 on the north side of town thats inactive, and then these two. I suspect this bolt used to be at another spot in town, but its also small enough that it wouldnt really matter (if it actually rotated)

@@SirenDude1003The thunderbolt was originally installed in Independence, IA (exact location unknown) and Riceville purchased the 1003 along with the STH-10 in 2008. The thunderbolt was believed to be struck by lightning sometime before 2020 (probably mid to late 2010s).

It’s lazy that places don’t do proper maintenance on there sirens, fix the most likely simple rotator issue, replace/sort the brushes/chopper motor!.. nice video of it though!

Bruh !! are you shitting me these are mechanical siren I know they might sound awful. but these siren ages a lot. although thunderbolt sirens like these are discontinued from the manufacture company. it didn't rotate so thunderbolt is dead.
