I dont understand this attack and overall distrust on general media Most of the media and news I consider worthy enough to consume is well done. Even stories coming out of perveyors of filth (ie RT, fox news, sky) help the general public gain understanding of what slant the ultra conservative class wish to push. News stories and almost no story is going to be 100% across the board..it's up to the consumer to extract usefulness out of any one item...or simply disregard it. We should support all media...especially if they make a good faith effort to uncover truth.

It’s very interesting to see Groner and the old money. The old money had much more time to relax and enjoy themselves. Their money bought them time for their family and future generations. On the other hand, Groner seems to be working himself to death to make money for said old money that invest in his company. The mentality of a property millionaire... Buy a piece of property for as cheap as possible, make any repairs if needed as cheap as possible, charge 3 times what the actual payment for the loan payment is, put as little as possible into the maintaining of the property, hopefully sell the property later for 5 times what was invested but will settle for 3 times as much. Buy a piece of property for as cheap as possible, tear down all structures if any, rebuild with a "better" structure, charge each renter 3 times the rate for a smaller space, do as little as possible to maintain the property, earn 20 times the loan payment amount, hopefully sell the property for 10 times the investment but will settle for 5 times the amount invested. Then people wonder why fewer and fewer people and businesses are able to grow and thrive financially.

It happens a lot in Ireland where the American vulture funds buy up every house and apartment all newly built you can think of. And then rent them out charging humongous rents which only a person earning at least 5000 Euro can live in without sharing. I am always impressed by the quality of DW's documentaries. Gröner may regret one day that he and his wife sent their kids to boarding school. He freely admits that he does not have the time for them during the week. Schade! He may live to regret that choice one day. A driven man intoxicated with his success but he finds time to support 'worthy' causes. Good for him. A very revealing window into his philosophy of life. The Siemens engineer's story highlights how 'market forces' have no regard for the commitment to quality that has been the hallmark of German industry and take no account of the bond that builds up on the factory floor, which is discarded without a thought for the welfare of those who have loyally put in so much, another Germanic trait, which is the envy of the world.

Well said. The top down pursuit of money/cost cutting slashes skilled workforce, i.e. more expensive, without any concern for the after effects. It happens in all fields. When I worked in mental health they cut the number of psychiatric nurses dealing with severely mentally ill people in favour of unskilled, cheaper, support staff. What's destructive is the lack of awareness of the negative ripple effects for such economic decisions, but I guess the point is to shore up your own wealth and let everything else be an after-thought.

In which country do you live? Why are you only focusing on "whites"? That's hardly fair or representative, and it isn't true. Yes, there are some people who buy the "American Dream" farce, but they come from many different backgrounds and ethnicity, not just Caucasians. To be fair to the sheeple, they've been programmed through school, TV, movies, etc. to be part of the rank and file. Psychological manipulation...Yet, there are plenty of who are aware and unhappy, so please stop making such grossly inaccurate, stereotypical characterizations. I'm poor, white and American, and I certainly don't celebrate the imbalance - only brainwashed fools and idiots do that.

More of this please - take a look at London and the UK where I live perhaps. The divide is so wide, many people do not realise how far away they really are from having the opportunities that the wealthy have. For example: If you send your child to private school/nursery - thats not enough - the wealthy are having their children privately tutored from age 3 in all areas and subjects. I know this because my partner and I were asked to do this work post - university by an agency we both signed up to for some short term work. Truly Insane.

I live in London too. One could do a fantastic documentary about all this here. Gentrification has happened with dizzying speed and reach, absorbing and rendering very expensive numerous areas previously seen as not just undesirable but dangerous. Of particular interest in the property market is the practice of extending houses not just upwards, but downwards into often lavish basements and sub-basements dug out from the foundations. In a number of instances, this has resulted in damage not just to the property under renovation, but to their neighbours too, since so many London houses are attached to one another as part of terraces.

The issue is that the average human being, has no ambition or doesn't want strive for success or use the poor family background as shield to justify the incapability of him/herself. So.....question : why as successful business man , take in consideration my skills , should I be worried about the poor people who just complain and most of the time don't take action to develop a better life quality? Why those people have to wait the Government's help ? You are the only one responsible of your life. If you come from a loser family , doesn't mean you have to follow the same way to be. I have worked with these people in Sankt Moritz. They tend to insulate themselves from us ordinary people to the point that they do not feel as part of the same species. They do have the feeling they don't need anybody, wealth means that you do not depend on others so their social relationships are not vital and their sense of empathy (which is a significant part of homo sapiens's social behavior) becomes unnecessary and atrophies. Empathy is the root of morality, so morality tends to weaken as well. Thus the feeling that one is above the rules that govern other people's lives. The uber rich are not necessarily happy people, wealth and power are like a drug. It creates a craving that is never satisfied, and it creates a sense of emptiness within. Of course, not all are the same. Some rare individuals remain profoundly human, but extreme wealth is usually damaging.

Power is where people believe it reside.. Some see it in government, some see it in the wealthy, some in money, some in the regular people..

We should be cautious about people with wealth trying to help the world out. They have the power. What if they included low-income people in their decision making, as they are the actual people represented. No taxation without representation comes to mind.

When I just moved to the Netherlands they wanted to put me in a school/class with other foreign students. My guardian opted out of that and sent me to a school with only Dutch children. This wasn't because we were rich and they were poor, this was because these children will never get to a certain level due to their background, they will keep them back by grouping them together.

In the US many kids of the superrich’s kids are internet influencers. They could go to any college and work in any profession but many opt out and just do the lazy influencer thing. At least they work…I guess. I also totally agree with your grouping them together is holding them back.
