Rich Cole shows you why the proper fitting of your custom wood stock is so important and what could go wrong when not properly fitted! All modern guns are made of high quality wood machined on very sophisticated machinery, based on a #CAD model designed around a “nominal standard”. What that means is a little bit of wood is left over for a skilled worker to properly #fit the #stock. Due to the fact that #Turkishwalnut has a 10%-14% moisture content, as it dries it warps and needs to be #fitted. Metal on the other hand doesn’t shrink like wood.
If you were to fit a machined piece of wood onto a #receiver without adjustment, it would not fit on the stock head properly, or may split the stock at the tangs. Watch Rich go over a few different stocks to illustrate examples of how each frame differs slightly and where the shock should be directed with a proper fit, using an orange dye as touch indicators.
