Of course no one likes to talk about context, because it's easier to say success and failure is all on one person. It's not worth taking a QB at 6 this year. The Giants have less offensive fire power than NE right now. A rookie QB has no chance to succeed in that situation. I think it's more likely the G-men take a WR this year (maybe a later round QB), then draft a new franchise guy with a top five pick in 25 for the new GM and HC.

Rich pushes this "every team needs to draft a new qb" narrative every year and every year we see multiple teams in that bucket not do so.

Biggest problem with the Giants last year was the horsebleep offensive line that Schoen assembled (?) last year. You could see it with the Dallas debacle of a game when Jones was running for his life. And the season disintegrated from there.

They need a WR not another QB. If Jones don't work they have Lock and Devito. Who do they have offensively that gets other teams scared? Exactly so get one of the top WR and let's see what he can do with a real dawg that gets other teams scared.

Everybody knew signing Daniel Jones to a long term deal was stupid, except the guys who gave him the deal.

What's Schoen supposed to say? Yeah, he misfired on Jones (yeah, his own fault, we know!) and is now locked into a contract for another season with him. They have the #6 pick and a team with a whole lot of needs. All the top QB's will be gone by 6 and they don't have enough draft capital to trade up with all their other needs. Use the pick on a WR or OL, and take a QB in the 2nd or wait till next season. NY sportscasters will be raggin" on the Giants no matter what they do. Also, Eisen needs to give up on the "they decided to pay Jones instead of Saquon" lie. The numerous offers they made to Saquon are very much public knowledge. Why isn't he talking about his Jests? I thought they were going to the Super Bowl ? (Again)

The nuance of the start to the 2023 season is completely lost on you Rich. Andrew Thomas got hurt on the 1st series in week 1. Saquon got hurt before the end of week 2. Evan Neal and Josh Ezudu were turnstiles. The defense was swiss cheese and they had to play down double digits with no pass blocking and no running back. Cmon man, do better.

Tommy cutlets had the benefit of a major o-line change which while not being monumental it was enough for him to have an extra second or two.I trust in Schoen & Dabs opinion over a guy who buys a plaque that says "Best Dad Ever".

I don't think it is fair to compare Jones' games to Devitto's games and say Devitto played better Devitto faces much easier competition. Also Devitto had Thomas back at Left tackle which Jones didn't have and the defense couldn't stop anyone in the 1st 6 games they couldn't even tackle in the games Devitto started especially the wins the defense created on AVG 3 takeaways after not getting a takeaway until week 5. Also the narrative that Schoen picked to sign Jones long term over Saquon they did everything to sign Saquon long term from the bye week until just before the tag deadline they needed to pivot and sign Jones long term to keep the tag available for Saquon or they would have lost both. Lastly don't forget Jones was sacked on AVG 6 times a game they 49ers game I think he was sacked 10 times same as the Cowboys and the Giants were still in that game late in to the 3rd quarter without Saquon and with Josh Ezudu at LT or is a Guard who was not a good pass protector at G as a rookie it is not fair to compare the games Jones would have beaten the 3 teams Devito won he also would have won the Jets and Bills games the Giants would have been a fringe playoff team even with the bad start

Many Giants fans may be done with Jones, but they don't run the team, and thankfully don't have any say in the matter. OTOH, a poll of Giants fans in the Athletic today, showed that 59% of Giants fans (by FAR, the majority percentage) voted: "Stay at No. 6 and draft the best WR available." Personally, that's what I'd do. I don't care if they draft one of the top QBs if Schoen and Daboll really LOVE him. But they're not loaded with picks, they have a TON of holes on the roster, so if they pull that trigger, they better be f-ing right about the guy! They're stuck with Jones next year regardless, and the Giants are NOT just a QB upgrade away from being a good team. This is a team that still needs a LOT, and a stud WR will benefit ANY Giants QB. Best thing about the situation is that for once, no one knows what Schoen's is going to do. Not the fans, and certainly not the media, who've been beating the drum for a QB since the offseason began.

People talk about the 2022 season like Jones was amazing. He really wasn't above average. The Giants were incredibly well coached and they used a lot of trick plays and were hyper aggressive in their play calling which all came off. However in most passing categories they were bottom 10. The praise for Jones was he cut down his turnovers, but they did that by not throwing. I went back and watched a few of their games, it seems like he was told if your first read isn't open, run. Well that only works for so long. The contract seemed mad at the time, the was no indication that anyone else was thinking of offering anywhere near what the Giants paid him.

The problem I have with DJ is that he is hesitant on pass plays, he is scared to throw the ball, get intercepted and doesn't want to disappoint Dabol, DJ needs to trust his receivers and the OL have to be more consistent in pass blocking. I would let DJ play out this year and wave him next year if he doesn't improve from 2022.

If you reach for JJ you literally will be making the same mistake reaching for DJ. It doesn’t make sense to get another QB and there’s no solid WR to throw to or OL to protect him. Also he’s gonna probably sit a whole season behind Jones and Locke. Grab Joe Milton at round 5.

Rich is a mile off here. I don't think any of the QB's coming out this year are worth sacrificing any trades to get up and get. He is falling in to the same trap so many do when a team is drafting high and have questions at QB. Can we go down the list of the many, many times teams took a guy high because they needed a guy and have it end in disaster. His Jets have written the book on it. I trust the Giants scouts and GM. You should never take a QB that high or trade up to get one unless you are absolutely sure they are your next franchise guy. You may still end up wrong. But you better believe with every ounce that you are right. I don't see that scenario here. They need way too much in other positions. But we will all know for sure in a week.
