He clearly said, “IVE BEEN THE WORST TEAMMATE IN THE ENTIRE MLB!” I don’t think he fully understood the question and didn’t distinguish Team and Teammate. Maybe I’m naive.

I agree with you. I think Gelbs set him up by asking a leading question 'did you say I'm on the worst Team ?' and Lopez said "yes... probably'. I think Lopez's answer would have been exactly the same if Gelbs had asked him 'did you say I'm the worst teammate'.

Phillies fan here. The unwarranted impending circus that'll come to this dude from the media over a 'Lost In Translation' moment is punishment enough for him. I speak English pretty well and I heard teammate too. Not worst team in MLB. Also implying he needs a translator is ridiculous. He speaks just fine

Spanish is my second language and if someone was interviewing me and spoke proper Spanish and were speaking as most fluent Spanish speakers do super fast I’m sure I would shake my head and agree not knowing exactly what they just asked me, this guy seems to not really understand what’s being asked, poor guy he should of had an interpreter helping him out!

I'm pretty sure Lopez said "I been lookin' the worst teammate in the whole ****ing MLB". That's not cool to say, either. Throwing the glove away and showing no remorse is a big, fat no-no. But he didn't say the Mets are the worst team. They're only about the 5th worst. So let's be fair. 😉

the problem is the Mets are actually the worst team in baseball because they are actually trying to win (from owner/payroll perspective) and have one of the worst rosters in baseball. It's one thing to be the Rays, Marlins, Royals, or other super small market team with no payroll and not win games, it's expected. To have a $300m payroll and no one outside of their fanbase can name more than like one or two players on the roster and can't name their manager makes them the worst f*cking team in baseball

Second year in a row the Mets committed roster malpractice. Last year, it was a starting staff all over 30, with 3 over 35. No chance they were going to stay healthy. This year, they have the oldest roster in MLB but decided a rookie manager was a good fit. Their sloppy play reflects a manager that cannot hold the veterans accountable because he has no track record. Their players are too good to have the worst defense in the game. Buck had his faults, but he demanded attention to details like turning double plays and at least attempting to control the running game. David Stearns is turning out to be as clueless as Billy Eppler was.

The Mets organization is a mess - laughing stock of the league - they're horrendous. Can't hit, can't run, can't field, can't pitch. They need to start over from scratch - dump all the starters and buy prospects from good farm systems (Orioles, Rays etc....).

The Mets were 12-8 after 20 games. They have gone 10-25 since. I haven't done the research but I would be surprised if any other team has been that bad over the last 35 games.

There is a split in the clubhouse and it began when Lindor was brought in. The team was young and immature and dominated by Alonso and McNeil. Lindor came in , was more experienced and a World Series champ and was surrounded by a bunch of amateurs and 2nd and third year players. And that polarization never went away but became instead a detente of sorts.

When the Baltimore Orioes traded away Jorge Lopez to Minnesota in 2022 at the trade deadline, when the Orioles were nominally still in the playoff race, many talking heads, and I think Rich Eisen was one of them, yelled loudly that the Orioles were "giving up" on the season and their fans, and were a disgrace to baseball. Well, the Orioles proceded to win 101 games the very next season, being led in part by a pitcher, Yennier Cano, whom they got as part of the Lopez trade* and is still a big part of yhe team's bullpen. Maybe, just maybe, they actually knew what they were doing. *They also got minor leaguer, Cade Povich, who is currently one of the Orioles top 10 prospects.

How do the Mets have one of the highest payrolls in baseball? I can name like one player on that team, Pete Alonso. I'm a Braves fan so I follow the NL East but like damn, who is on that team? They suck because the answer is basically nobody. I know they have the shortstop who balled for Cleveland and then fell into a black hole which is why I can't remember his name. Didn't they sign some Japanese player? What's he done? Who is even their manager? It's sad that I know the owner's name before I know anyone else outside Alonso. And that's the issue with this team.

he doesn't need fixed. He just needs to not be on a garbage team. He was the best closer in baseball in 2022 before the O's traded him. He had a 1.68 ERA and 19 saves at the all-star break.
