I was the singer of a french hardcore metal band named Krull, based in Paris, and we opened for RKL in Paris suburbs in 1988, it was one of the best show ever! What a great band and great people!
This was recorded during a European tour in 1986. The Bass player was only 16 and he had to have a bandmate have temp. guardian so he could enter Europe. The spawned a whole new sound of technical hardcore punk dubbed "Nardcore" (they formed in Oxnard CAL.). They got their name from an old guy who said " they're nothin but a bunch of rich kids on LSD". They thought it was hilarious (none were rich) & the name was born!
Nardcore broke from Oxnard in Ventura county in 81ish. One of their first songs was on a Mystic Records compilation record called Nardcore with the top bands on the album's questionnaire were given a record on Mystic and the rest is history. But they formed in Santa Barbara.
Rich Kids on LSD dabbled a bit in speed Metal too but yeah, they're a constant. One of the best bands of that entire era. Gang Green and GISM might also be worth looking at if you like this kind of stuff.
Props for who recommend RKL. I just saw a list of 50 best punk albums…NO R&R Nightmare? They had some great records on the list, but…C’mon. #morewestcoastrespect
To think I was alive and witnessed this renaissance of triumphant music. What a privilege to see punk go from blah blah bleargh, puke, to what it was born to be.
hell yeah, kinda the first time I'm getting the point of a reaction video... did the trend really start with 2 girls 1 turd? Rkl is the best band, and I can't say 5 bucks is a bad deal for someone to shout out something basically.
