Join us for a presentation by Rich Pennisi with a number of photos at Port Morris, NJ, including inside UN Tower where he worked, as well as along the New Jersey Cut-Off and the mainline in Pennsylvania. Prior to Rich's presentation, Keith Smollin and Chuck Walsh will give progress updates on Greendell Station, the NJ Transit project to Andover, and New York City-Scranton service via Amtrak. You'll also get to hear the interesting chit-chat that took place prior to the opening of the meeting and these presentations.
As such, Rich worked for the Erie Lackawanna (1967-76) as a ticket agent, freight agent, towerman and train dispatcher. With Conrail (1976-78), he was the Assistant Passenger Trainmaster in Hoboken, then Supervisor of Operating Rules for the Hoboken Division. With Union Pacific in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Rich was train dispatcher and Assistant Chief Train Dispatcher for 11 years.
He then left UP and worked for Santa Fe as a train dispatcher in Winslow, Arizona, then as a power distributor in Chicago for 3 years. Following that Rich worked for the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) as an Operating Practices Safety Inspector for 19 years. Rich is now retired and living in Arizona.
