Dude looks like he woke up with a huge hangover, stumbled into the studio, didn't even bother taking off his raincoat, grabbed a guitar and blew everyone's mind before breakfast.
I think maybe cuz of the Keith Richards/Mick Jagger/Stones money from BSS. Ashcroft didn't make money off the song, and it takes a lot of money to market an artist, no matter how talented or gifted he is.
@@renataskitchenstories651 Jagger and Richards ceded their rights back to Ashcroft two years ago. But there’s apparently still a dispute over past royalties.
He wasn't underrated. He was critically acclaimed and received A-list radio airplay. Urban Hymns is the 19th best selling album in UK chart history. Your comment suggests that he didn't get the recognition he deserved?
Yes, improved. Sure, he sounds weathered, but it’s only adding texture and authority to his performance. Listen to Bono if you want to hear a singing voice that’s actually completely shot.
This song saved me my mum got cancer and I was doing drinking and doing drugs to help me through it but they never really helped just made me feel better for a bit I’ve never had a song connect with me such as this one I don’t know there’s just something about it the depth and struggle in his voice just changed my whole outlook and I’ve not touched a single drug since I owe my life to you Richard
Laura Walker well I’m here most times if not working back in Europe so if you ever fancy a holiday in this little piece of paradise drop me a line, stay safe ✌🏾
with all do respect have you listen to his solo records? they are really bad, boring lyrics, The Verve never been a rock n roll guitar band, more like a folkish one
Our first dance at our wedding. We were both ‘lucky.’ That was in Dec 2000. 2023 and still together, with 3 children who are almost grown up themselves now. Time flies. 😊
Amazing. I had a pure chance meeting with the band just before they made it big. On my Duke of Edinburgh's award expedition, camping in the lake District in the early 90s. A few of them and one had a US girlfriend were in the tent next to us. We sat up smoking and having a laugh. I'd never heard of them and then not long after...bitter sweet symphony came out 🤯
I lost my mother in August of 2021, I am a lucky man to have had her in my life. She was always ready to give everything for anyone, this world is so Lucky to have had such a soul on this earth. I would give anything just to have one more day with her.
@@goldenhourkodak none that will reach the iconic status of Ashcroft, Liam Gallagher or Damon Albarn though. I prefer Damon's work with Gorillaz over Blur but he's not from this generation
@@stevendonovan7564 Because the mainstream isn't looking for this style of music right now. That doesn't mean they aren't as good. You could help by supporting these artists.
@@goldenhourkodak i love people like Gerry Cinnamon, Sam Fender etc but even Liam Gallagher's solo stuff is probably the best stuff out in the last couple of years
A REAL Singer, a beautiful song, a powerful voice!!!!! Richard FOR EVER AND EVER!!!!!! Not like the shit we hear today all day long on the Radio!!!!!!!
Mental. Got tickets to see Richard next august. 2024 in Essex. I’m 49 today, and never thought I’d see him. Working class Brit, his songs are our theme tune! ❤
2023 still banging. Music like this will never get old. Corporations try to change it but the real ones never bow... Richard ashcroft you're a real one. They won't change me!
Seen him live in Belfast/Belsonic festival last year. It was amazin to watch the young crowd slowly wake up to the fact that they had an genius in front of them and slowly get drawn up to the front with each iconic song . He was an absolute legend.
Happiness, more or less It's just a change in me, something in my liberty Oh, my, my Happiness, coming and going I watch you look at me, and watch my fever grow And I know just where I am But how many corners do I have to turn? How many times do I have to learn All the love I have is in my mind? But I'm a lucky man With fire in my hands Happiness, something in my own place I'm stood here naked, I smile and I feel no disgrace With who I am Happiness, coming and going I watch you look at me, watch my fever grow And I know just who I am And how many corners do I have to turn? How many times do I have to learn All the love I have is in my mind? I hope you understand I hope you understand Oh yeah You know, you know, you know, you know You know, you know, you know, you know Got a love that'll never die, no, no (you know, you know) Happiness more or less It's just a change in me, something in my liberty Happiness, coming and going I watch you look at me, watch my fever grow And I know Oh, my, my Oh, my, my Oh, my, my Oh, my, my, my, my, my We got a love that never dies I got a love that'll never die No, no And I love you, man Yeah It's just a change in me Something in my liberty (don't think, don't, don't think I'm lying) It's just a change in me Something in my liberty (don't think, don't think I'm lying, I'm trying) It's just a change in me Something in my liberty Oh, my, my Oh, my, my It's just a change in me, something in my liberty Oh, my, my, my, my, my, my (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah) I said oh, my, my, my, my, my
Richard Ashcroft - One of the best songwriters in the history of music. His lyrics are poignant yet inspirational at the same time. Been a fan since Urban Hymns' days. Love all the way from Malaysia.
I can remember being a young kid listening to this in the back garden playing football and having BBQ's camping out etc. Them were the days! Not a care in the world
Love this song! I remember watching “Lucky” with John Corbitt when he was down n out in a Vegas rest room. He found a $100 chip under the sink and smiled. this amazing song came on. Loved that show and this song is chefs kiss!
