I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Richard after his performance in a play in Massachusetts. This was several years ago and he is very personable and down to earth. So charming!
You are so lucky to have met him! I can only dream of that happening. I did get to see him perform onstage in the 90's in "My Fair Lady" and "The Sound of Music". He was fabulous, and I loved just being in the same room with him! 😅

Richard Chamberlain is my 8th Cousin. I enjoyed watching him on TV's "Dr. Kildare". I turned Sexy HOT in "Shogun" . My 2nd Partner "husband" at the time of "Shogun" was infatuated, and both of us wishing he was Gay! Little did we know!! Sadly, my 2nd Partner died before Richard Came Out. And only after that did I find out that Richard is my 8th cousin / my Gay Cousin, as a result of my Genealogy research. Now, I am very disappointed to see a bunch of FAKE Videos about Richard on RU-vid declaring that he Died at Various Times in 2022. @@khela1755 Kind of an absolute pity it didn't become a full-length television series similar but different in the mold of The A-Team, Miami Vice, and Airwolf. Imagine that, Dick Chamberlain playing America's Anti-007. I say Anti-007 because unlike Ian Fleming's iconic MI6 agent, you have David Webb [the real name of Jason Bourne] only being with one woman, Marie {played exquisitely by the beautiful Jaclyn Smith}. Plus, it would have been nice if the series (had it been greenlighted) followed the original literary trilogy more closely. The miniseries from 1988 should have had been a two-hour TV-pilot movie, depicting David's recovery on Port Noir [the fictional island from the book] with the help of Doc Geoff Washburn {who was portrayed so wonderfully by the late Denholm Elliot in one of his last acting roles}. It would have also been awesome if the television pilot ended with David on his way to Switzerland after having to flee from Port Noir after beating up a group of fishermen who were bullying him [as it happened in the book] and awaiting in Marseilles to obtain a decent forged passport to get to Zurich. The primary drawback to his objective is that he didn't have enough money to get the Gemeinschaft Bank. He was just kind of dawdling in a butcher shop when an opportunity arrived to give him help in such a plentiful way= a very wealthy marquis [member of French nobility] was visiting his ravishing adultery mistress for the evening arrived to take the exquisite suite located above the meat proprietary upstairs. It gave David [Bourne's real name] the limited chance to illegally acquire in a matter of minutes from the inebriated and horny nobleman his elegant wardrobe, billfold packed with thirteen thousand francs, gold Girard Perregaux wristwatch, and the sterling silver monogrammed head car keys to the luxurious and reliably functional Jaguar. The money in the billfold is spent on clothes that fit since the outfit of the Marquis barely fits him. The final ten minutes of the movie would have David acquiring his new fake passport and as he's leaving, a thug of Carlos recognizes him, curses him for still breathing, and runs out of the bar immediately. The final shot would be of David standing outside in a overhead angle shot by himself, which would be metaphorical of the fact that David is going to be in a very lonely fight for survival and he's in for a long perilous battle against Carlos' personal infantry of numerous mercenaries who are primarily focused on earning their pay.
Older generation from me. I was born late to older parents and i remember my parents loved him as an actor back then. I only saw him in Shogun due to my father, and also in that awful Indiana Jones adaptation "King Solomons Mines" back in the mid 80's..... Shogun was really good though and he played a masterful act in it. My parents also spoke of "The Thorn Birds" quite often. Especially my mother. Seems like it was "The Series" back then. I must sadly say i never watched it. I probably should. I remember also there was some kind of a fuss back in the early 2000's when he came out as gay... When ppl still cared about that sort of thing. .. OMG "Thorn Birds Priest" was a fairy!!! Western society will collapse and ppl are jumping out of windows and in front of cars and laying on the rails in the subway waiting the be squashed... .... the shock... The horror!!!... Hey Khela, would you like to know something? I have a sort of confession regarding as to why David Webb is probably my favorite espionage fiction protagonist. I know you are not familiar with the books that Ludlum wrote. I understand that. But, thanks to Mr. Chamberlain, I know why he's such an awesome character.
