I'm 86 years old, a citizen of the USA and have had the privilege of PERSONALLY knowing the Greatest Generation. I support the right of these people to protest. However, I don't support their manner of protesting, i.e., disrupting their fellow citizens' lives. In my day, we would have removed them from the streets. Tied them to the street posts or guard rails with handcuffs or ZIP ties and gently laid their signs over them for all to see. Protest and Traffic continue in Harmony with each other. Q.E.D.

I have an acquaintance who is disabled. Paralysed from the waist down. He goes to work in a fabric where he puts crayons into crayon boxes. He utterly refuses to get benefits cause he doesn't want to be a burden on taxpayers and he wants to do his job, for the country and the people. This lady got there just fine with her "disability", and probably paid for a taxi with our tax money, as well as food, clothes, shelter, etc. and yet she has the goal of biting the hand that feeds her and her children that she cares oh so much about! The JSO are shamefully middle and upper-class entitled scumbags for whom human life and safety mean nothing. I say, if she is so avid to carry her delusion, then she should carry herself to work and have a feel of what she and the rest of the lunatics are causing to the average worker. After she will be left to fend for herself and her children she might actually get a taste of what is truly like to be responsible and how the world actually works. Maybe she would gain some actual empathy.

It is 5th July 2023. This is the first time I am seeing this video and the whole Just Stop Oil and Insulate people. I live in the Caribbean where climate change is actually affects us. I am a patient man, however if I am going to a hospital for an emergency with a love on and these persons in the road holding it up protesting, I would probably run them over and face the court after knowing I have saved their lives. 20 people in the road asking me a citizen to bare the ultimate cost instead of them going to the ministers and policy makers to shout at them would not go to well with me.

I am a consultant in Washington DC and represent primarily renewable energy companies. Have done it since 2011 now. People like this woman hurt actual progress FAR more than they help it. For a number of reasons but the biggest is she's a pathological liar and people don't support liars. I didnt hear anything she said as a fact that's in any way a consensus amongst experts or could even be construed as true. Our kids will not be enduring mass famine and war because of climate change. There will not be a billion people displaced. Theres no expectation of catastrophic weather events killings millions and millions of people. Also, no we cannot switch to renewables in the next 8 years as she is trying to claim. It's DEFINITELY not 9 times less expensive to go to renewable energy ha that one cracks me up a bit. None of that is reality and youd have to find the most radical literature to even find those arguments being made. Its fear mongering at a really pathetic level. Shes a weak minded person who's been easily convinced of a doomsday scenario that simply isn't reality. That is why groups like Just Stop Oil so closely resemble a cult. Her inability to control her emotions in the slightest makes her and the group look like crazy people. Unfortunately through association they make it hard to be a realistic and serious advocate for climate policies that aren't insane and would have actual benefits. I can promise one thing. Dealing with people like her is impossible. I've had to sit in meetings with representatives from groups like this and it is unbearable. They've gone too far down the rabbit hole to be saved. When you truly believe 1 out of every 8 people on the planet will be forced from their homes in a matter of decades you're too far gone to come back. It's a waste of energy to debate them. However, her hysteria (let's call it what it is) and loud voice are not making me feel less relaxed about the climate (as she might assume); instead, she is making me anxious about her mental health, her kids' health, and her husband, but also about the people who can't get to the hospital due to the protests that she sympathizes with. And that's precisely the problem with this "movement" - in fact, this loud minority is an insult to the climate change movement as a whole. While they claim to want rational debate and assumingly aim to tap into people's emotions, they actually trigger a completely different rationality and evoke emotions that make you feel resentful towards them and their idea of a movement. It's disheartening that this loud minority has sacrificed genuine content for the sake of protest and its form. They are doing a great disservice to our climate, the efforts to improve it, and the scientific community. We can certainly speak of the role of media but the media's failure lies exactly in this type of sensationalism and in twisting the image of a true movement, in inviting such individuals like this lady when there are plenty of others who are more capable of effectively conveying the message.
