It doesn’t seem to always be the case. It seems that children can form cross associations. So if they hear something similar to something else, yes, they can say “but this just a story.” However, completely new approaches can be misunderstood.
I know you write this awhile ago sorry so late. It seems to me that if a child expresses even a minor disbelief in some kind of fairy tail the adults show little concern. On the other hand even a minor expression of disbelief in God the child is subjected to some type of punishment, even if it's only verbal. I remember being around 11 years of age and thought I had came up with this intelligent way to compare Jesus and Hercules, Hercules did it physically while Jesus did it mentally. I didn't understand why my mom couldn't see the comparison but she ridiculed me. At that point kids learn to not even question the religion in the way you question other things. It's a built-in special pleading fallacy where any reasonable objection is seen as the devil being good at creating doubt, therefore one should believe harder.

I dont think you understand how religion is as big as it is... it is centered around family life and promotes breeding. The likely outcome is more religious people than not in the near future: education is the only hope

My opinion is that the tone in the voice makes a child determine wether or not the parent is serious or not. Therefore if the parent/s use a serious tone while talking to the child about god then the child would be inclined to belive it. Much the same as saying "get away from the fire" in a serious tone. Although I'm not an expert.
Oh I'm so sorry you don't see why people don't get over religion as they grow up and they do get over fairy tales. It's actually a very simple reason and I'm sure you see it, you just don't ever mention it in interview. Religious people are just the most self indulged people that "believe" in God in order to live forever after dead because they can't accept the end of being alive and aware. So religious people are just fascinated by the idea of living forever because they think they deserve to live forever and can't accept the truth that they are worthless as the rest of us.

Nobody needs religion to behave morally. It's a benefit to any species to not kill itself off. Cooperation is hardwired into the brain, just as rearing and protecting the young.

Bottom line is no one knows what exists after death we can debate the issue but we will only know when we die if there is heaven you will know if there is not you will no nothing
Just couldn't help but observe: Does Dawkins not brush his teeth or rather is against the use of toothpaste. This is a serious question, cause there are many intellectuals (like Feynman) who believed that brushing teeth with toothpaste was unscientific.
Abhilash Paruchuri I understand your observation about Dawkin's teeth. I would be surprised if he did not brush his teeth with toothpaste. I imagine it could be from drinking lots of tea daily which can cause your teeth to be stained. That's just my thought.
I've watched a ton of Dawkins material and I've never even remotely thought about or looked at his teeth, because there's nothing wrong with his teeth. It's natural for teeth to look somewhat stained. If your teeth are completely white, they're artificially whitened. Simple as that. No such thing as natural, stainless white teeth.

The God you speak of, who has supposedly existed for eternity, although we humans have only known about him for the past 7,000 years. The sheer arrogance to believe that your God is unique and special is laughable. Indeed we will all die, and the world will live on. This too applies to your God, where human advancement will one day make him obsolete. The eternity you speak of will not even be occupied by your own beliefs, as they will be lost in obscurity.
