I started working on Family Feud during Richards reign and he was one of the nicest and kindest people in Hollywood. He brought my young 3yr old son on camera a couple of times and made sure he felt special and welcomed. I worked with a lot of celebrities during my years, and Richard is one of my favorites. 🤟
I was a fan of Richard Dawson. He and Ivan Dixon were my favorite characters on Hogan’s Hero’s. He had an unmistakable wit and was a GREAT and entertaining host. Didn’t know about his downside/ego in his later years. He only slept 4 hours a night…don’t know how he did that for years! Loved him in “The Running Man!” It was simply himself. Happy he had a second chance at Love and Family. RIP Richard…
Hogans Heroes was one of my favorite shows growing up and I especially liked Richard Dawson then and on Match Game and as host of Family Feud. I didn't know about his personal life except when he was talking about his children with his second wife and how proud he was of them and how he loved being a daddy. I thought he was a great villain as well in The Running Man movie and had heard a comment about how he was thought to be a perfect fit for that role because of the similarities of Richard and the character. I'm glad his last years were happy years with his second wife and children and that he had a good relationship with his children from his first marriage.
I loved Richard Dawson. In fact, I love watching him on Match Game reruns. I was saddened that he allowed his ego to get in the way. No matter how famous you are, you should still treat people with dignity and respect. I'm glad he mellowed out in later years.
I am a big fan of Richard Dawson. I can’t say anything bad about him. I loved him on family feud Hogan ‘s heroes, and match game. The ultimate game show host much better than Bob Barker.❤
When I was 12 years old I saw a movie with my folks called "The Unholy Wife" starring Diana Dors and Rod Steiger. I had a huge crush on her and was actually given this very photo of her in the black negligee by a theater usher when he saw how enamored I was with her. I still have the photo and I am now 77 ! How about that ?
I have heard the same about him. Everyone on Match Game loved him. Until his ego deflated. Brett Somers and Charles Nelson Reilly both were jealous of him and hateful of his attitude. Even Gene Rayburn disliked him.

His birthday was 2 days after myself in November. Being a scoripo, Richard had personally, charm, and passionate side. Loved Richard, he knew exactly what he was doing.
Dawson was definitely the original Mack Daddy. I remember in an interview he stated he received death threats because he treated all his women guest equally (the kissing, the hugging, the cuddling...). Gotta give the man credit for not changing during a narrow minded time socially in the U.S.
@@harperstacey9604 It wasn't really a kiss it was more of a closed mouth lip graze. Surprised no one ever refused him. Probably because he was charming and handsome.
If known at all in the UK its for the Running Man. Most don’t know his career or that he was English or Married Dors. Ironically the multitalented late great Bob Monkhouse (who became a national treasure here in the UK) had an affair with Dors before she met Dawson. He went on to host Family Fortunes in the UK (and didn’t care for Dawson much).
I was on Family Feud with my family including my 15 year old son we had been on 5 days so I think the reason he was very rude to my son was he was tired of us. After the show the camera men came out to the parking lot as we were leaving and apologized for Richard Dawson's rudeness to my son and called him an ass hole. I noticed in the commercial breaks he would click his fingers and one of the staff would bring him a cigarette when the commercial was over he would click again and throw the cig on the floor and one of the staff had to pick it up he wasnt a very nice person.
Well, Diana Dors got a bit of career karma because in 1967 she costarred in one of Joan Crawford's later campy hagsploitation films "Berserk" playing a tawdry circus performer Joan disliked! Haha!
He was a very funny person. However, I did not at all like the fact that he was so full of himself that he'd approach and impose on ALL females on 'Family Feud' to kiss them, multiple times even. He'd kiss very young girls also which was so upsetting to me. Married, single or in between, he did not care. I do not watch 'Family Feud' anymore on "Buzzr" because of this.
RICHARD DAWSON WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE ON FAMILY FEUD!!!!! HE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT HE WAS SO CUTE!!! I FOUND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT HIM TO BE CUTE OR ENTERTAINING IN THE LEAST!!!!!!
