He's given his entire life to becoming the best session/live guitarist there is, nailed it and helped MANY bands along the way. Not all glamorous ones all the time. I CAN'T IMAGINE how many days and months he's spent in a fart-box 15 passenger van... Fun, but not always
This guy inspired me to learn GUITAR. I was an awesome metal shredder and looked down on other styles because I thought metal shred was the single hardest there was and I could REALLY play fast and clean using all the advanced metal techniques (sweeping, string-skipping, economy picking, etc.)… THEN, I went and saw him w/ Axl & Friends and he had a 10-min solo w/ EVERY SINGLE STYLE of guitar there is, absolutely MELTING MY FACE every time he changed genre. He made me look within and realize I knew nothing and made me wanna be a well-rounded guitarist that could play any style. Here I am 10 years later and climbed the Texas Country ladder to an audition for a BIG up-and-coming Nashville Country act, I’m Crowdfunding an album with a SERIOUS Music Group out of Texas and when we finish the album, it goes to one of the biggest music distributors in the world- Sony. ALL THIS because of Richard Fortus
Absolutely loved how you expressed your inspirations. I totally agree that metal techniques are one of the best out there. All the best with your album! P.S. It's called Guns N' Roses, not Axl & Friends. It's also a brand and not a permanently fixed set of individuals. Tomorrow, if Axl passes away, it'll be still called Guns N' Roses.
It's okay tho, Metal Head are quiet narrow minded and tend to look down other music till they got thier face washed by some random look dude in a guitar shop at Nashville. lol
Oh I remember the bill saying "GnR and AIC," but to me it was just Axl- the only member of the band. None of the "Roses," if you will lol@@nahiyanalamgir7056
@@nahiyanalamgir7056 Just a guess, I think they were talking about GnR before the reunion, where Axl was the only remaining original member, but still under the GnR name. Just a guess though because I'm not him lol
Thanks for putting this it there. I haven’t seen Richard play live in ages and this was a treat. I remember how much he kicked butt playing November Rain. This is even better.
He is a great addition to the band since joining back in 2002. His guitar style and playing is phenomenal. Excluding song writing, way better guitarist than Izzy.
Dude- Fortus is a FREAK. Bumble and that DJ Ashba (sic?) were up there too and all rocked. I tell ya- as doubchy as he appears, DJ is cool as shit and NAILED "Don't Cry" and a few other solos where, had I turnt my eyes, I would've thought it was Slash.... seriously. Cheeers mate!
I think all the solos from the Chinese Democracy era should be played by Richard. Slash is the guy on guitar, but he killed Robin Finck and Buckethead's solos.
Can't watch the vid ATM, watch it again yourself, google the lyrics and you'll learn something Writing lyrics is WAY HARDER than most think! I SUCK at it and am about to track a record! Ugh... ;/
Kinda hard for them to Google lyrics to an instrumental clip... 🙄🤦♂️ Several months later, I know, but for the OP, it's towards the end of Double Talkin' Jive
