This movie came out when I was starting the police academy around 1983 which was stressful, nerve wracking and very challenging. Like the film when Mayo tells Paula he has doubts about his completion of the training, I also felt that way halfway through. With my girlfriend and fellow academy classmates giving me strength and confidence, I graduated and was able to give 32 years as an law enforcement officer before retirement. It was a great ride and enjoyed every minute of it.
O my goodness..who can ever forget Richard Gere and officer and gentleman? Such great talent and music in the 80s.such a great time the memories bring thanks for uploading

reminds me of my days in Marine Corps boot camp...nothing so fancy as flying jets..rather being a grunt during the Vietnam War..proudest days of my life..
THIS movie was to me one of the best movies ever. Told a great story. Great acting. The good sides and the bad happenings in life. Still love the part where he gets asked to quit, and then his drill instructor kicks him out. That part was GREAT. The emotion. Wow. Will never forget this gem.

what a graceful, smart, hot and hard actor and man Richard Gere is ....and Salute to gentlemen cadets of all forces across the world as their training is very tough not at all easy both physically and mentally....wonderful movie.
This was my NAVY recruitment movie in 1984.....served 4 years on USS Carl Vinson (86-90), during my last deployment to the Gulf, the IRON WALL fell ;} (Thank you Reagan, Thatcher and Gorbachev).
Richard Gere my favorite actor, very cool... I love the song as well, so romantic and I can't afford not to play it on the airwaves everytime I go on board. Mabuhay! from DJ Juan Miguel of Digos City, Davao, Philippines.
Probably one of the most romantic endings to any film since the grand old Hollywood days of Casablanca and certainly up there with other more recent movies from Richard Gere's body of film successes with this forever appealing genre. There couldn't have been a dry eye in the house with any female in the audience at every cinema it was shown in at the time. Grand est l'amour
As a young man in high school I read this book because it had to do with Naval Aviation not realizing what a great love story it was, then went and seen the movie at the theaters. Touched my young tender heart:)
Major crush on Richard Gere in my teens. And then this was no under18's and i wasnt yet 18 but luckily my friend was so we snuck into the movie theater..always always a favourite
‘ when ever i miss the 80’s and Debra Winger and Richard Gere make this film such a time trip back to the time when a lot was wholesome , and pure , before ‘ technology’ , this film is the most realistic love story and tear jerker! Love it ! Especially the end seen !, enjoy
O cara era um galã de primeira mesmo. Marcou época Richard Gere. Infelizmente o tempo passou e levou a juventude embora, mas o grande talento como ator permanece até agora em 2019.
Love Richard Gere and his girlfriend , but being a woman who fought her own way up in a ‘ man’s job in a man’s world ‘ I LOVE the brilliant girl who finally makes it over that bloody wall ( encouraged on by Ensign Mayll ) and gets her ambition to fly JETS !!! Fantastic story ! Go for it girl !!
@David Scott Hi David, Ironically I’m now ‘dying’ of cancer cos I’ve worked out from my knowledge of genetics from my science degree that ( as I also discovered that I have around 79% Celtic genes ! ) I suffer from undiagnosed HAEMOCHROMATOSIS aka ‘ The Celtic Curse ‘. This explains my repeated bouts of depression , my 2 early inexplicable hip replacements when no one in my family had ever had osteoarthritis , my liver resection and the liver cancer I now suffer from ! Even more ironic is that ( though I had VERY dark hair in my youth and have always had very dark brown eyes ) I’m probably the least stereotypically ‘ Celtic’ looking of all my mum’s family and yet I’m the only one who apparently suffers from the bloody genetic condition !!! I got colon cancer about 10 years ago ( which seems to be another genetic defect in some celts ) and before the onset of the liver cancer . Once I got the colon cancer I was forced to stop being a blood donor which I had been all my life and then the symptoms got worse and worse and I tried to literally drink myself to death - though actually I’m NOT a drinker ! HAEMOCHROMATOSIS is due to iron overload and of course not being able to give blood again the iron just went up and up ! I’m pretty sure that Gerry Rafferty ( Baker Street ) , Micky Finn ( T Rex ) George Best (the footballer ), Richard Burton ( the actor ) and Dylan Thomas ( the welsh poet ) also suffered from this ‘ Celtic Curse ‘ which is NEVER tested for by the UK NHS and explains their depressions, alcohol consumption and liver damage / cancers cos they were all CELTS !!!
Amo 😍 todos os filmes com o ator Richard gere ele é lindo e maravilhoso!!!!! sensacional a música.....curto muito as românticas! só sei que o tempo passa más o grande Amor permanece 😍😍❤️❤️💕💕🌻🌻
Not my favorite movie but MAN WHAT A SONG. People are more Robotic in 2019. You just dont hear compassion in music like this anymore. Mi madres phone. Great stuff 81'
A beautiful song by a great singer like Joe Cocker, very well accompanied by that particular voice of Jennifer Warne (the times Joe recreated this song he could not replace Jennifer with other successful singers), thanks from Argentina to you Acer Lee.
Yes, I think the news is on You Tube. I seem to recall the title of the report to be soemthing like actors or leading actors who could not stand each other or some words to that effect. if you so choose to do so I hope you can discoverr the report, but I am unable to recall the correct title for the video, my apologizes.
I heard that too. From co-stars who didn’t get along as appeared in a publication called Zimbio. 25- Richard Gere & Debra Winger Debra Winger was a notoriously tough actress to work with at the height of her career in the 80’s, and we bet her An Officer and a Gentleman co-star Richard Gere would agree. Rumor has it they argued constantly on the set, and Winger even once mentioned that filming the movie was one of the worst experiences of her life.
Show!... Um Excelente Vídeo. Uma Linda Musica. Bela Postagem. Valeu!...
