@@probablynotdad6553 The inflammable nature of the exhalations of wine was already known to ancient natural philosophers such as Aristotle (384-322 BCE), Theophrastus (c. 371-287 BCE), and Pliny the Elder (23/24-79 CE).[16] However, this did not immediately lead to the isolation of alcohol, even despite the development of more advanced distillation techniques in second- and third-century Roman Egypt.[17] An important recognition, first found in one of the writings attributed to Jābir ibn Ḥayyān (ninth century CE), was that by adding salt to boiling wine, which increases the wine's relative volatility, the flammability of the resulting vapors may be enhanced.[18] The distillation of wine is attested in Arabic works attributed to al-Kindī (c. 801-873 CE) and to al-Fārābī (c. 872-950), and in the 28th book of al-Zahrāwī's (Latin: Abulcasis, 936-1013) Kitāb al-Taṣrīf (later translated into Latin as Liber servatoris).[19] In the twelfth century, recipes for the production of aqua ardens ("burning water", i.e., alcohol) by distilling wine with salt started to appear in a number of Latin works, and by the end of the thirteenth century it had become a widely known substance among Western European chemists.[20] Its medicinal properties were studied by Arnald of Villanova (1240-1311 CE) and John of Rupescissa (c. 1310-1366), the latter of whom regarded it as a life-preserving substance able to prevent all diseases (the aqua vitae or "water of life", also called by John the quintessence of wine).[21] In China, archaeological evidence indicates that the true distillation of alcohol began during the 12th century Jin or Southern Song dynasties.[15] A still has been found at an archaeological site in Qinglong, Hebei, dating to the 12th century.[15] In India, the true distillation of alcohol was introduced from the Middle East, and was in wide use in the Delhi Sultanate by the 14th century.[14] The works of Taddeo Alderotti (1223-1296) describe a method for concentrating alcohol involving repeated fractional distillation through a water-cooled still, by which an alcohol purity of 90% could be obtained.[22] In 1437, "burned water" (brandy) was mentioned in the records of the County of Katzenelnbogen in Germany.[23] It was served in a tall, narrow glass called a Goderulffe.

Hey Discovery channel! Give this family a show, they are knowledgeable in their Craft very well educated in their product. Here is an idea for the show" contestants have too make moonshine with the ingredients given by the brothers, not only do they have to make the moonshine but they also have infused it with food or some shit"

Bruh….. he said that the water was hot enough that the cotton candy just dissolved in it…… MY GUY THATS WHAT COTTON CANDY DOES IN WATER😂😂😂😭😭😭 it can be literally any temperature, if cotton candy touches water it’s going to disintegrate
@LolLol-yn4gw
@LolLol-yn4gw 2 года назад
What he said is when the water is hot enough it’ll melt much faster than in cold water. If you used your brain cells to understand that instead of clowning the man for no reason you wouldn’t have made such a idiotic comment. If you ever took a chem class you would know that hot boiling water has more energy than cold still water. Since boiling water molecules come into contact with the cotton candy faster and with more energy so it dissolves fast thus explaining his observations that the cotton candy “melts”. He isn’t stating that only hot water melts cotton candy he never said that. What he said is relative to cold water the cotton candy dissolves or melts better in hot water. This guy is in the woods separating molecules and distilling alcohol and doing chemistry and you believe that he thinks that cotton candy only melts in hot water. These 3 men take a more professional and scientific approach to moonshine than any hillbilly I’ve seen.
@willhall796
@willhall796 2 года назад
@@LolLol-yn4gw edit time stamp- 2:59 he literally says “when the water is warm enough…….it just starts to melt” that is directly implying that if the water is NOT warm enough then it won’t start to melt the same way. And I’ve taken several chemistry classes- you have to take 1 in high school and several more for a civil engineering degree, you don’t need to have taken a chemistry class to understand that no matter if the water is hot or cold the cotton candy is going to melt IMMEDIATELY. If you’re trying to time and compare the two even if there was a difference it would be a difference of milliseconds or even nanoseconds. In this whole paragraph all you did was make yourself look ignorant and foolish. Nobody came here to argue except for you and you did a terrible job at that, atleast research what you’re going to argue about next time dude shit is genuinely embarrassing snd it’s not even me😂. The second hand embarrassment is crazy
@LolLol-yn4gw
@LolLol-yn4gw 2 года назад
@@willhall796 lmao then you know about solubility and warmer water makes any solid dissolve faster idk how your gonna argue that and it’s definitely not milliseconds. There’s a reason why you want to precipitate anything or create a amalgamation of any liquid you heat it up not cool it down. So there is a difference .I love seeing you jump tru all these mental gymnastics but you got ratio’d and don’t know how to act now. How sad.gg no re.

@@LolLol-yn4gw yeah I edited the comment immediately after making it, and showed exactly what I had edited since it didn’t have a time stamp on it. Again it doesn’t matter whether water(or any liquid for that matter) is hot or cold because cotton candy is literally just sugar, it is 100% going to immediately dissolve in any liquid you put it into lol.

Seems weird to use cotton candy to make alcohol and boil off all the chemicals. Cotton candy is essentially just sugar, The flavour comes from the additives, AKA the chemicals, So boiling them off just leaves you with sugar
