I met him during his book signing tour for "The Rogue Warrior". He actually took a moment to talk with me and was genuine in his interest. He is one great American and our nation needs more leaders like him.
Wallace Berry Same here when he came to Keesler AFB. Very much enjoyed talking with him. Later in life I worked with an original member of Six, interesting stories some just sea stories no doubt, but interesting!
I also met him at a book signing, and he is the nicest guy in the world. Just don't oppose the US Constitution and get on his bad side! God bless Marcinko.
Meet him twice on book signing. We talked for several minutes about navy time aboard ships. The second time was a few years later I walked up and right away he stuck out his hand and call me by my first name. Remembered everything we talked about on the previous book signing. Had a few more laughs about some BS. Realized he thought like me, no gray area, right or wrong, true or false.
His books taught me lessons about leadership and personal responsibility when I first started reading them in high school in the mid 90's. Those lessons directly impacted my success as an adult. Thank you Mr. Rogue Warrior. I hope there are plenty of bad guys to hunt in the afterlife with no bag limit and personal discretion on ROE's.
I can't believe the injustice that happened to this man. I was a Marine and also served in the Army as an MP for Operation Enduring Freedom and just learned what happened to him. You go Richard!
That is what happens when you make enemies with people who like to hold grudges or who just down right have it out for you. Sooner or later, they will look for any dirt to use against you. And if they cant find any..... than they will go out of their way to put some there.
Richard Marcinko is the epitome of mission driven success. Laser focus, a willingness to accept and correct shortcomings, and the charity to give so that we in America can live free. Richard Marcinko is not why America is great...he is why America is safe. Whether one comprehends or recognizes the magnitude of Marcinko and his progeny matters not to him or those who do what he does. These are the warriors who keep the fight afield and America secure. Disagree with the strategies, despise the tactics, but never disrespect those who will give their all without so much as a momentary pause so that others have the right to speak even in opposition to it all. Ours is a nation founded by sacrifice and Marcinko is the definition of that way.
His Rogue Warrior book is a must read. It's basically an autobiography, he wrote after the Navy rail roaded him. He's explaining some of it in this interview, but the book has a lot more detail.
For those who think his Book and actions are-were bullshit? I can tell you from first hand, living experience. When he said he was testing the Security at Naval Bases? His Story of penetrating the Pt.Mugu Naval Air Station with Air force one on the ground there? TRUE! 100% TRUE. I was 17 at the time, growing up in Ventura, just North of the Base. When Richard and his Seal Team 6, attacked that Base, and all hell broke loose? OUR COUNTY WENT APE SHIT! We had a Police Scanner back then and it went ape shit. They were talking about an attack and possibly the Russians, etc. That was in fact a True story. Look at the records from Ventura County from that time.
I read the first and last book in the series of Rogue. I can not wait to read in between! I hope there will be more! The way he writes made me feel as if I was his friend listening to his experiences. It got me through being locked up and not feeling alone even though I was....
Marcinko is a true American patriot on every level. An alpha male through and through, a mans man. When someone puts a bounty on your head because of the shit you caused the enemy during war you know you are a bad ass. Much respect.
I met him @ a book signing in Grapevine TX a long time ago. Myself & my buddy (both former Marines) gave him a bottle of Bombay Sapphire Gin & he was such a cool guy. I still have the autographed book. 👍🇺🇸
I'm not sure how many of you have heard , but we lost our hero "Demo Dick " Marcinko today at the age of 81. R.i.p. good Sir , with the deepest respect. 😔🇺🇲
The best leaders are controversial, as Dick was. I had the honor of meeting this gentleman through a friend of mine at McP's Irish Pub, which is a hangout for the Coronado teams and trainees.
Fron all of the books and the biographies that I've read on Mr. Marcinko. I've concluded that this man is the Absolutely the Tryth! A "Real Life Rambo!" And who happens to be from New Brunswick,New Jersey.( Same Place I'm from).😁😁😁😁😁
I used his leadership ideas when I was a PO3. They worked ever in civilian life. When I have been told not to fail sense I read his first book I have yet to.
I appreciate what you went through very very intense Remember some people can understand.... & appreciate what you went through.... seriously & no joke ...
@@countingcoup3713 Well, if you are older than 58yrs old I guess I would be your son... I say that in a respectful way because my Dad still lives at 82yrs old.
Like he said, it's easier to be a bad guy than a good guy because any place can be exploited. They just watched until people let their guards down and learned their routines. Easy peasy japaneasy!
hey Dick! how does it feel to have commanded seal team 2 and the starter of seal team 6? I have read all of you books (some , several times over..........I respect you and thank you for your service to this great nation. HOOOOOAH!!!!!
Pfft he said the SAS where far better trained and got tougher missions. The Bin laden case is a load of shit and more evidence you Americans will believe the horse shit your government spews.
WT Hendrix "British soldiers are the best trained soldiers on earth and the SAS is absolutely spectacular" Former US military general David Petraeus. You forget my tiny country also still owns most of the world. So your point is? And we also still own part of Ireland, stupid American.
GamerDares Wins I think we sent the message to you pretty well. May be time to do it again. You are right on one point. I am a Texan. A Southerner. An American that will throat punch a limey and make their teeth click. See ya ass clown. God Bless America. The land that I Love!
Minute17. Pulling the fire alarm to empty the bldg. During the Clinton regime the forest service set a fire that got out of hand. Under certain conditions this helps reduce ground fuel without harm. Usually used in pine woods. Anyway, a fire threat was declared and I think it was Los Alamos got evacuated. Subsequently a hard drive full of nuclear bomb miniaturization designs went missing. It was later found behind a Xerox machine. Can the USA survive traitors in the White House? That's asking a lot. The pendulum of of our cycles of weakness has to be pulled back every time by shedding the blood of our heroes. One day we may just run out.
All that training, dedication, skill, stealth etc...to be "lorded over" by a bunch of psychopathic/sociopathic civilians in silk ties, and some in uniform as well, who see them as nothing more than well trained cannon-fodder.
they must have changed the title because I'm reading the title and it says "Founder & First Commanding Officer Of Navy SEAL Team Six" That doesn't say anything about seal team one... no one said he was the founder of team one
I read the whole header, the description, the video stamp in the lower left of the video itself and every comment... I cannot find anywhere that claims he was the founder of seal team one. Or in your words "Founder Navy SEAL Teams One & Six."
He was a founder as one of the first. Just like our founding fathers. They were not the First but members of the first group. In Navy speak, plank owners.
GamerDares Wins what sort of stuff does he say about our guys? What comparisons etc.. ? I tend to read more about the SAS and Boat Service... Always good to learn more stuff..
Strider J he goes on about how much harder the training is... far more psychological than seal training. He said it's borderline torture. Candidates get absolutely no feed back on their performance, they are subjected to confusing battle scenarios and are basically trained to not crack under torture. No sleep over 4 to 5 days and they randomy pick candidates to lead a group of guys in various tasks... what they do is never good enough however. They must learn to deal with being poisoned by the enemy... The directing staff control how much sleep and food is given to them all. That's just selection.
Yes! You're a sharp one, it's hard to get something passed you. Elvis is running a bait and tackle shop in Florida, and Santa Claus pays for the presents.
He called Cuba, a little skirmish. ahahaha Over 100 of the attackers were killed, and more than 1,100 were captured. [Though many of his military advisors indicated that an amphibious assault on Cuba by a group of lightly armed exiles had little chance for success, Kennedy gave the go-ahead for the attack. On April 17, 1961, around 1,200 exiles, armed with American weapons and using American landing craft, waded ashore at the Bay of Pigs in Cuba. The hope was that the exile force would serve as a rallying point for the Cuban citizenry, who would rise up and overthrow Castro's government. The plan immediately fell apart--the landing force met with unexpectedly rapid counterattacks from Castro's military, the tiny Cuban air force sank most of the exiles' supply ships, the United States refrained from providing necessary air support, and the expected uprising never happened.](via: www.history.com/this-day-in-history/the-bay-of-pigs-invasion-begins).
The State Department (without permission) warned the Russians of the attack, and they in turn warned the Cubans. Found this info in the State Department’s own historical records when researching rules of engagement for US operations (early 80s) in Beirut and surrounding Lebanese territory. You would be amazed how many times they compromised US missions/operations/strategies. I quickly discovered that the State Department is notorious for going against presidents, their administrations and directives all the way back into 1800s. Their philosophy is, “presidents come and go, but we still keep our jobs and we know better.” Scary stuff if you ask me. In the military, we always hated those guys, even if they were prior military. I just thought it was because we saw them as political cronies and hacks, but after reading through their own records, other people’s experiences and talking to some other people, that’s when I really realized why we really hated them. We just have never been educated on their transgressions and their effects. Honestly, till this day, I don’t know why I thought going through their records was going to help my research. For some reason, I just wanted to know how much, if any, influence (politically speaking) they have on creating and or implementing rules of engagement, which they do. But I went down that rabbit hole and came back out shocked, confused and disgruntled.
Sort of like a guy who trolls an American hero but uses a misspelled word instead of his real name as a calling card. On their worst day, the lowliest seal will do more for society than people like you will in a lifetime. I take no pleasure in clarifying how pathetic folks like you are. But it's an honor to reply so that others won't have to.
I know a Seal Six Plankowner, was with the first team and he said Marcinko was a real bastard and son of a bitch and no one liked him, but they all knew that if you went out with Marcinko, you were coming back alive so they all had a very big respect for him and would follow him to the gates of hell, knowing they would all be ok. not many leaders had that. total respect. well done Sir.
i met him him in 96 while stationed in norfoilk, he signed my rogue warrior book. Really nice guy, although I thought he was huge, he was shorter than me, and i'm only 5'8
@@davereeves1967 i don't mean to diminish him, I was still intimidated by him although he was very nice asking me about my boiler tech experience on a destroyer
@@breedhate68 no no, I'm not saying you diminished him. I'm just saying, from reading a plethora of his books in my childhood, I remember him describing himself as lifting a half ton on the farm as a part of his free weight routine. Yes, I know they were fiction books. But like my man Slim Shady said, there's truth in jest. He was huge for a midget, wasn't he?
