Nixon was a great President. I find him an honest man. Anyone that looks at his life story can do nothing less than stand in Awe. It’s a shame he was persecuted for Watergate. His crime was that it happened and it was exposed. I hate to use the arguments that others have done far worse and haven’t been caught. It is what it is. He is an honorable man. Americans should be proud to say he was the President of these United States. He was never a man of great wealth. He earned everything he ever received in life. Everything.

In a hypothetical situation if JFK had committed Watergate, I wonder if the press would have given him a pass.

My level of respect for Richard Nixon is not very high. I do commend him for standing before the country and answering difficult questions from a press that some say did not like him nor did not trust him.

Evaluating Richard Nixon while overlooking the Watergate Scandal is akin to judging Adolf Hitler and overlooking the genocide of Jewish people throughout Europe.

So, when he was too drunk to function during the Arab Israeli war, that was good? When he interfered in peace talks in 68 just to win the election, committing what lbj rightfully said amounted to treason, that was good? When he purposefully extended the Vietnam war so that he wouldn't look bad if South Vietnam fell before the 72 election, that was good? Read a book

A background to this conference is that 2 weeks before it, President Nixon's approval rating (2nd November 1972, Gallop Poll) had plummeted to 27% - the lowest since Gallop polling began (and had fallen to the 20's for Nixon for some time). This conference was President Nixon's attempt to repair public confidence in his Presidency but his approval rating continued to fall bottoming at 24% in the week he resigned from Office (August 1974)..

The Nixon Presidency was destroyed by the Media elites it had absolutely nothing to do with the Watergate breakup. Unlike Trump Nixon didn't have the courage to publicly Call out the media for the lies and Propaganda they were pushing against him but at the end the media is the most powerful lobby in modern America. George Bush and other republicans have too dealt with lot of Left wing media fear-mongering but was nothing compared to what Nixon and Trump were victim of.

It’s interesting watching this “infamous” press conference entirely I’m struck by the fact that just about every question is answered more or less without really “whining” about it unlike the current individual now in the White House. He knew they would be adversarial but he didn’t back down and tried his best to respond.

The only Problem Nixon had was the fact that the Rich people who controlled the three Networks NBC ANC and CBS didn't like him so they used media Propaganda to destroy his presidency the same applies to Trump.

I know very little about Watergate, other than it forced President Nixon to resign. I do find it incredible for the President to allow himself to face these tough questions from the media while dealing with the Watergate scandal! I don’t think any politician today would place himself in the crossfire like this! ☮️🖖🏽

Richard Nixon was positively a saint compared to Donald J. Trump. Indeed, in the whole history of Nixon's political career, there have been identified only very few outright lies. With Mr. Trump, on the other hand, he rarely spoke a word of truth and his lies are legion.

Trump is a different sort of liar - a compulsive, delusional liar who can't tell the truth to save his life, possibly bc he is incapable of grasping the truth, or any reality that reflects negatively on him. Nixon is a more calculated and devious sort, with far more blood on his hands - or at least thus far.

Seriously tweaking out here...and in every conceivable way, and by any imaginable measure,.not a well man. Deeply disturbed and profoundly corrupt, so much so that it's actually palpable.
