He's a cool guy, met him when I was a kid, good conversation. I personally would have pulled in and told him thanks, he made me appreciate people more.
Down here in level cross we don't think about him has famous we think him as just a regular person I live on a road next to him and I see him all the time
I'm a race fan, but not a NASCAR fan. I do like Richard Petty though. Met him years ago at the SEMA show, and happened to be the last person in line for his autograph. He and my dad talked racing for 20 minutes or so. If you had never seen a race, you'd have no idea that he was famous. He acts like a regular guy.
When I visited Richard's house in 1992, on my way to Atlanta for his last race, that outer gate was not there. I pulled up to a little grocery store in town and asked where his house was, pretty sure it was a relative of his and he told me where to go! It was so cool! So I went up that road to the other gates. Fun times!
cool a film of Richard Petty's house minus said house. however nice to know the king and myself have stuff in common, I also Pee on my drive sometimes.
