"Vorspiel" (Prelude). "Lohengrin", german opera in three acts. Music and text by Richard Wagner (1813-1883). Conductor: Rudolf Kempe & Wiener Philharmoniker
This is probably the best complete recording ever made. Go get it and hear how Kempe paces the entire opera and the singers sing with him for the overall effect. All the singers are excellent. and this orchestra breathes Wagner.
Two of my favourite leaves not falling as they should do. O. Henry's "The Last Leaf" was a fake leaf that would never fall. This part of this tune invokes a real leaf that's trying to fall, on a slightly breezy day, and can't come down unless it passes through ever deepening levels of requirement.
This is so beautiful! I tried to sing this recently and you get a special feelings with that. It unlike other music. You cannot compare it. Kind regards Frankie
I find this performance better than Toscanini's or Furtwangler's (and its not just the technical quality). Surely, one of the most beautiful pieces ever written.
thank you for uploading. GREAT cast with Gottlob Frick as König Heinrich, Jess Thomas as Lohengrin, Elisabeth Grümmer as Elsa, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau as Telramund, Christa Ludwig as Ortrud and Otto Wiener as Der Heerrufer. DID think that Conductor Rudolf Kempe's "pace" was a bit slow at times. was Gottlob Frick THE greatest Wagnerian bass EVER?
