Because Toyota made 1/10 the profit per car vs Tesla. Tesla has no dealers, all their cars are premium prices, it operates all it's own charging stations. There is way more profit there than Toyota can pull out of it's products. Most of Toyota vehicles sold are of the $20K and under vehicles, sold at dealers who take at least half that price. While Tesla sells $45K minimum cars with no dealer and they all charge at tesla stations that aren't cheep. Tesla is like Toyota, Exon/Mobil, BP, the Dealers, and some more companies combined.

Most likely the author is using a host of metrics. Tesla has a significantky overpriced market cap. It doesn't even represent the future of motoring given that it needs government tarrifs against competitors to stay relevant.

@@RS-hd2ks I think you are just blowing off steam for no reason. Tesla has been in the profits for some time now. And that has been while developing, paying for developmental cost, paying for the Tesla Semi and the Cybertruck. They have a huge development cost and are just now starting to sell. So their profits stand to only go up from here on, but they have been profitable for some time now while paying the development cost.

Agree. Tesla price to earning ratio as of September is 62.9. Toyota price to earning ratio is 8.75. That means that the value of Tesla is 62.9 times what it earns per share!!! That means that you are investing 62.9 dollars for every dollar of earning.

I’m not sure where you’re getting your information, but that was paid back within a couple years of getting the bail out so did Chrysler at the time pay that back within a couple years. In fact they were both paid back ahead of schedule.

Better do some fact checking they still owe US tax payers over 15 billion and the treasury department has 113 million shares of stock worth 45 bucks a share and it would have to be sold at about 150 dollars a share for them to get their money back. GMC sold out America and their employees.

I bought a brand new Toyota hi ace long wheelbase van in 2007. £23000 including vat. She's still my work van in 2024 with 190000 on the clock, never missed a beat, still on the original clutch. Only thing She's had other than service parts is a full exhaust as someone helped themselves to my catalytic converter. Basically the van is amazing as it was built in Japan. The pro ace that replaced the hi ace is a pile of French shit with a Toyota badge.

My friend you need a reality check the reason Toyota and guess to some point Tesla is on the top of this list is because people are interested and desired these vehicles and they do sell a lot of cars. Toyota is very well established and has a fantastic reputation of quality and durability they are not perfect but they always come highly ranked in quality year after year as for Tesla they are a lot newer to this game and their quality still has a little ways to go but people are buying the car so they’re making a ton of money right now. I think there’s other better quality electric cars out there if that’s what you’re looking for.

Anyway, everyone knows that Tesla is not good at quality. When Tesla was first introduced, it was because of its self-driving system that people fell in love with it but after a while, they realized that it is neither of good quality nor a good car. No country can beat European car industry. People like to have luxury cars and brand cars and not muscle cars. Now, don't reply anymore to my comment. Bye
