I love how Rick has the foresight to prepare bones, oxygen tube, and a microphone, but not prepare a backdoor exit.

The way this series goes, I would have totally been down for an entire episode of them in this vat trying to prove they were in acid through different shenanigans

Kinda sweet how Morty saved the rat by giving it the oxygen tube.

Rick's lack of empathy is why he failed to anticipate that the gangsters would be horrified at seeing 2 people dissolve in acid. And, that's why a lot of his plans fail.

2:20 I love the fact that Rick just watches Morty pack up the crystals in the box waiting for some kind of positive reaction from him but just got an annoyed/frustrated one instead 😂

My favorite part is their banter on the ride home. You can really see the character growth in Morty from season 1 (in which he revered and feared Rick) to this new season (in which Rick is finally playing defense).

Bro when the other bones went up instead and the guys freaked out was easily the funniest part in the series. Like it was so simple but the voice actors sold the shit out of it

Easily the best rick and morty joke. Rick is at his best when his idiotic ideas are streched to their limits not when he is a badass god who has no weakness.

The way Rick said "And the world will know when I try to hurt you" and he actually delivered later when he made Morty re-do the vat of acid bit in front of all the people Morty wronged, his pettiness truly was as big as his intelligence

This was such a good, ridiculous scene. Rick’s on-the-fly thinking of whittling fake rat bones and blasting the ladle are classic

Funny how Morty is trying to save that rat and seconds later just throwing it at them.

I was hoping the whole episode was going to be them in the vat of acid and the gangsters talking

i love how morty saves the alien rat and even gives it his oxygen tube but then gets mad and throws it at the guys.

I think both Rick and Morty where in the right in this one. A fake vat of acid is definitely an original and unique idea that would be successful in theory. The problem was they were attempting to trick a pretty stubborn group.

ngl I wish I could watch this in an alternate universe where the whole episode was just these guys testing the vat and rick trying to save his plan.

This is episode was so perfect. It was filled with jokes, it was funny, it was sad, and it showed a twist.

This episode was hands down the best episode of the season in my opinion. Sad, funny and teaches a valuable life lesson.

Fact is Rick could not anticipate that the alien gangsters weren't as dumb as they looked. He's still a genius but even some things are still unpredictable to him.

The fact that they got mark Hamill to voice one of the mobsters, and mark Hamill voiced the joker who fell in a vat of chemicals/acid too. Is fantastic

It was ricks fault for slightly opening the other bone box and not closing it all the way. Doesn't matter if he's right or wrong in any situation, he just wants to win every time.

even though this wasn't a half-bad idea it's not up to par with ricks other ideas, i think morty is right to be cocky

I still think season 2 is the best season, but this episode *(along with Morty’s mind blowers)* is probably my favorite episode of the entire show

1:44 lol, love how this short sequence tell its own short story. 1:44 Rick and Morty make eye contact and Rick motions that he wants Morty to do something. 1:45 Rick gestures towards the hidden hatch with his hands, wanting Morty to take the rat and put it in there. Morty however is already looking up at the rat being dropped and doesn't see Rick making instructions 1:46 Rick flails around because he realizes Morty isn't paying attention. He wants to release the fake rat bones but the real rat NEEDS to be in the hidden hatch so he's motioning desperately to Morty to help him. He tries to grab the rat himself becauuse Morty isn't helping him 1:47 Morty suddenly realizes that Rick wants something from him but he doesn't know what. He sees that Rick has his hands on the hatch so he assumes he has to do the same but doesn't understand why. 1:48 Rick is trying to catch the real rat with his bare hands but as soon as his hands move towards the direction of hatch Morty assumes that Rick wants to hold the hatch down again because he doesn't understand the plan Rick has here. 1:49 Morty lets go of the hatch but Rick was reaching for the rat so now the human bones float up 1:50 Rick realizes that Morty just let the bones float up and is frustrated, he tries to shoot the real rat but Morty grabs the rat because he wants it to live and feeds it oxygen. The fake rat bones float up because Rick can't hold on to them Really neat how they managed a whole interaction in only like 5 seconds! (Also I typed this on mobile so apologies if the formatting is a mess but thought this was so cool it was worth describing here)

I love Rick's quick thinking when he starts to craft rat bones from that rib then proceeds to shoot the ladle once the guys change idea.

“Big man, Big Genius, Big Lonely Drunk” is my favorite line from the entire series.

The vat acid would have worked if morty whould have just kept his hand on the spare bones lid.

This episode is a great counterpoint to all of the people clamoring for more episodes featuring "Evil Morty": This show already *has* a main villain, and it's *Rick*.

I find it funny how the entire rest of the episode is basically Rick having a temper tantrum over the fact that Morty makes fun of him over this idea =) The fact that he ultimately provides Morty yet another stupid vat of acid as his only way of escaping his predicament is just... gold. God-tier pettiness.

Honestly it was a pretty stupid idea. Unnecessarily complex, needed too much to go right to work, too easy to mess up, especially since they could have just shot them from the get go.

Probably my favorite Rick n morty episode ever. The absurdity of it and Rick trying to justify it is what this show does the best

Season 4 was when Rick and Morty started to creak and became more unfocused but this is one of the best episodes

I love the detail of the little dish turning slightly as it picks up each voice

That Fake vat of acid scene is my favorite of Rick and Morty episode.

I like how the rat has enough intelligence to breath from the tube instead of panicking and swimming up.

I like to think this represents the working relationship between Roiland and Harmon, where this originally was supposed to be a bottle episode but was changed into something else and they kept that idea, it's especially symbolic when you have Rick and Bird Person fighting each other in the same season, both of which are voiced by the creators

They brought this back! Season 6 episode 9! 😂

I love the detail of changing the strength of the gun, it comes back later in the episode, but the reverse happens.

This episode is amazing. The build up to the punchline at the end of the episode is immense and it hits perfectly.
