6:41 buildup to the titular line 😂 That second ‘homeless’, man, its got a haunting quality to it. You feel the void he wishes for Carlyle there. Compared to the hackneyed ESPN/sportstalk epithet about firing coaches (usually some variation of: “now i am not calling for any man to lose their job, BUT…”), AC’s approach is actually far more tasteful really.
He actually coached a great game yesterday as he made the adjustment to attack the paint and he played his starters a lot more than he has in past games and to almost beat the Celtics without Halliburton is really impressive I gotta give it up to coach Carlisle he did his part 💯
They probably gotta fire Carlyle. Here’s why: 1. People been roasting this team’s defense all season and they never really improved schematically-they just traded up for a better defender in Siakim… that’s unacceptable. They have the personnel to be better on defense than they currently are, so there’s no excuse. 2. They ran an out of bounds play with 1.7s on the clock where Nembhard was inbounding the ball… which means he couldn’t even be used to gain any tactical advantage… that’s headass behavior from a coach and he should get fired for that. 3. Boston was down by like 9 with only like 2 minutes left and they somehow got 3 open layups down the stretch… that’s insane in such a close game. After the first one NO TIMEOUT WAS CALLED to organize the defense. Carlyle waited until they were down 1pt before calling a timeout and he had TWO LEFT WITH 2 minutes on the clock… headass activity. 4. Same shit from game 1… they can’t hold a lead in clutch time because their coach doesn’t know how to call a timeout and make adjustments to fix the issues in their defense. He’s just banking on them outscoring the other team. And I have a suspicion that he didn’t even expect this team to be this good so he’s assuming he’s playing with house money. They should definitely not bring him back when his contract is up. 5. Why are we continuing to play off of Horford when he’s already like 80% from 3 and cashing everything… he’s not fucking Russell Westbrook. He’s known to be a good shooter especially if you’re not going to defend him and if you don’t make him work, his legs will be too fresh on that side of the ball. His weakness is his age and ability to stay in the front of people. You can literally play Al Horford off the floor, but I guess if your coach is a literal idiot, you won’t take advantage of that fact… 6. God dammit, why didn’t they have Nembhard or Siakim taking that last shot… like goddamn this coach is an imbecile. 7. Why are we soft doubling Tatum and Brown all the fucking time? 🤦🏾♂️. If you’re going to double, do it right so they actually pass the ball, then recover. 8. Why can’t he convince these guys to get back on defense when they’re up by single digits in a must win game near the end of the final quarter? 9. Their pick and roll coverage makes no sense, it feels like everything is on the fly and like there’s no scheme… why are guys who can slot into the same defensive position not immediately switching? Why aren’t they funneling guys schematically into Myles-an above average block threat at the rim? Makes nooo sense. Like what do they pay this mf for? To look like bargain market Jim Carey with Alopecia? What’s worse is that the officials were trying their best to give this game to the Pacers… and they still screwed it up 😅.

Some coaches just don't want to switch. It looks like Rick Carlisle coaches to fight through the screen, but when its a big like Al Horford who's got a ton of experience and savy, its not so easy to fight through them.
It was honestly so disturbing how bad the Pacers defense was in the last few minutes 😭 I was thinking that this video deserved to be made even if the Pacers managed to win, but as expected, kind of hard to win games when you're just letting the other team walk directly to the basket...
