Mike M Cannabis is a drug just like alcohol. It’s a less harmful drug than others, but still a drug. Lupe mentioned that because Rick was a heavy hard drug user. When he died, the blood tests showed traces of cocaine and a bunch of other drugs that would make a pharmacy jealous.
I was a kid when this song came out. I thought he was talking about Mary Jane from the Spider-Man comic books I was reading back then. My churchgoing mother thought he was talking about a woman, but my two older sisters knew the real deal. They told me, "You know he's talking about drugs, right? But don't tell Mama because she'll stop us from playing the song." That was a great time to be young.
@@larsstenis9648 first of it's a plant what he talking about second scientificlly proven is not a drug so therefore it's not a drug how many ppl o.d on weed 0
He used the skit to mock people of the rumors . I love and loved everything about him . But knowing what people know now they should understand The Chappelle show was a slap in the man face . People so long claimed Rick as a person he wasn’t . Glad T. Marie and him were able to share unconditional love 💕.
I'm still convinced that some if those stories were true, to some degree. Again; stories. Like, judging from every third-person view of Charlie Murphy Vs Prince in basketball is said to be 100% true.
For a good 5 years before Michael Jackson and Prince came on the scene to give him competition Rick was THE MAN! Rick was a fantastic music visionary. Timeless and WAY ahead of his time!
😂😂@toothpick1luv my brother rest his soul use to be out washing his car and when THAT song who play on the radio OMG he would have our entire street bouncing and I thought it was about a female but later I found out was weed also😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Late Rick James, at the same time I listen to this song I remember my grandfather and my uncles who passed away and loved listening to Rick. May they rest in peace! A big hug from Brazil to everyone who likes Rick and enjoys this song in 2023. 🇺🇲🇧🇷🕺🎸🙌
For anyone that thinks Rick James doesn’t get enough credit, homie was a superstar. This was light years ahead of its time, and everyone felt that. I got the same feeling that my parents got when they first heard this. That bass line jumps up and smacks you right in the nose. Never forget the night I first heard this trippin balls.
Need some new music to listen to while high af? Go listen to my first released single! Hopefully you’ll enjoy it, I would love your feedback! Be safe. 🖤🎸

Actually thought he was singing about his girlfriend when I was little. Still confused as to why my on earth my parents let me sing along to this. 40 years later, ..now I'm in love with her. Lol!!! Respect!
'Dis Dude' emphatically changed the trajectory of music when he stepped on the scene in April of my 15th birthday back in the day of the late, great --- 1978! An 8-song classic telling you to 'Come Get It! From some 1 who was there . . . and felt it! #wow #datboywasbad #believethat #respect 💯🔥
yeah but in this case the "bass playing" was almost as awful as the "singing".. he's not doing a good job pulling this off. how does one COMPLETELY take hands off the bass and it still plays..lol
Heard it for the 1st 3 or 4 day ago Bruno Mars singing it just a snipet video of Bruno Mars singing from a After Grammys Party 2022. Someone at the party taped a little of it not the whole song. Love it.

Man this was the shit, when i came fresh out of high school that summer. It was an awesome time of discovery for me as a young adult. I had a blast and this song helped me do it. I was high as a kite everyday that summer off some "Mary Jane"..... the song and some weed. lol Rick James was bigger than life at that time of his career. Everyone wanted to emulate him and his sound. Many established groups wanted to have him produce their shit too. He was on top of his game. He got me into FUNK and I have never looked back. It's my favorite genre of music by far. Thanks for the memories RJ... RIP brother.
