My name is Jerry Styner and I am the guitar player in this video -- sort of. The actual guitar track was played by James Burton -- I was just "sidelining," much like lip-syncing only playing instead. This was a common practice on TV shows - in fact it still is. James usually would appear on the show, sidelining his own recorded performance, but he was in Las Vegas with Elvis at the time, so I got the gig! Hope that's not too disappointing to you - it sure was fun to do!
a rare song you never here....but still a great one....we miss him very much...another idol taken from us way too soon....his music will live on for ever!!!! 1111
Ricky was a great performer and did not have to jump around on stage to impact the older rock and roll era. His songs were good and he had great people backing him up. I believe his parents and brother had alot to do with that,, anyway sadly missed
😮😢🎉🎉❤❤ música lindíssima boa gosto Rick Nelson cantor faz muito sucesso até hoje faz muito sucesso até hoje faz muito sucesso até hoje faz muito sucesso até hoje faz muito
The weekly tv show was never shown in England, such a pity because although Ricky had many hits in England im certain would have been a household name and got bigger recognition of my fav R/R singer since 1959.
From his utterly stupendous and essential third LP for Imperial Records. Rick Nelson ultimately got the nod from Blitz Magazine (in a dead heat tie with Hank Williams) for Best Solo Artist of the 20th Century. One of the absolute masters.
That song is so awesome Been listening to him since I was a teenager in the 1970s 15 years old in 1976 I listened to him on the Oldies Station He's so Fantastic on RU-vid Me and my Husband got to see him in 1981 in Concert at a bar 8n Phoenix Arizona where I still live today What a tallent he was It was sad he died at a young age 💔 😢
Thanks for posting this video, love it! I remember when I was a young girl growing up in south Tx back in the early 60's watching his parents family show "the Adventures of Ozzie n Harriet". Really enjoyed watching Ricky sing on the show! Ricky you left the USA a better place just by gracing us with your presence and beautiful voice. Todavia te extranamos mucho, Ricky, ("We still miss you dearly"). RIP darling.
Thank you for posting this video online. And helping keep the first decade of Rock and Roll. We have placed it as our vintage video pick of the week here on Rock-it Radio. Thanks again and all the best, Bennie Dingo Rock-it Radio
"True Grit" Rock N Roll in the late 50's at it's finest hour .....If you ain't Rockin' after this one ~ you had better "check out" One of my all time Rick favorites !
Love It ! A real Kicker.Pure joy. I like the hair styles and attire of the gals in the audience. I like the styles the guys and gals back then. 11/12/12
Rick has always been a favorite of mine from whence I began tuning in r&r. I will admit I was off on many others incliding Frankie Avalon & Bobby Vee but Ricky today is the overall champ and seconds in line to Elvis who definetly earning the title roll of being the king of r&r. Ricky had the 2nd most top 10 hits I am assured of that, besides being the biggest tv celelbrity back when, I didn't tune him in cause all we had at the time was rabbit ears....you see, I live in Vancouver Cda.lol
Imagine a young man who was a friend to everyone. Ricky was never in a hurry. Anyone could walk up to him and start talking. He'd listen for as long as you needed him to. This was Ricky off camera. He was cool, calm and collected in those days. He really was just as you see him in "Ozzie and Harriet". He had tremendous poise and confidence. It wasn't until the 70s that he started to have some issues. Drugs got hold of him and changed him in ways that no one wanted to believe.
Look for Ricky the Bullfighter. This is at the end and you can't hear this but you can see Rick play guitar with Vicente Gomez, famous Flaminco and classical guitarist.
Thanks for the info Jerry Styner. Anyway you did appear to be playing and singing and it is still a great song. Met Ricky briefly when he performed in Evansville, Indiana and he was very cordial. Also the Ozzie and Harriet show is still one of the great sitcoms of all time, especially with Wally and Ginger sparking it up. Again thanks for your response and take care. RWB
The backing vocal chant ‘bop she wada wada’ can also be heard several times on the George Harrison song “All Those Years Ago” during the instrumental break.
You just tear me up when you smile at me And then my head starts buzzin' like a honey bee My eyes won't focus and I'm so upset I sit here shakin' in a cold, cold sweat You're makin' a fool out of me That's pretty easy to see You just tear me up and every time we kiss I never thought that love would ever be like this I guess you know that I'm in love with you I wish you'd tell me that you love me too You're foolin' around with my heart Please don't tear it apart Every time you kiss me I tremble like a little ole pup When you put your arms around me Baby, you tear me up I just wanna know if you love me too 'Cause if you leave me now I don't know what I'll do I'm so in love that I can hardly speak My head is spinnin' and I'm feelin' weak So won't you consider my plea Don't take advantage of me Every time you kiss me I tremble like a little ole pup When you put your arms around me Baby you tear me up I just wanna know if you love me too 'Cause if you leave me now I don't know what I'll do I'm so in love that I can hardly speak My head is spinnin' and I'm feelin' weak So won't you consider my plea Don't take advantage of me No, don't take advantage of me No, no, don't take advantage of me
Back again to say what a great old song and thanks again to Jerry Styner for his comment about this performance. Wouldn't hurt to put reruns of Ozzie and Harriet on TV Land since the show ran longer than any other sitcom and it was really funny anyway. RWB
