I love how he said it: "I study my own stuff more than other people's which is a terrible admission of some kind of ego, but that's how I feel I can make progress by setting the mistakes and successes of my past." -Rick Owens
Why is that an admission of ego? I see it as an admission of high standards, critique & perfectionism. Why would anyone want to compare their art to another anyhow? Might it tarnish a thought or idea? How else would we progress and move forward if we didn't look at the past as an indicator? Sorry, I didn't sense anything profound or forward thinking in this statement. So, I disagree in how he said it. I don't love it. JMHO.
Calling All Hands On Deck! ego because if he is looking only at himself to get better there is a sliver of thought that says “i am the best”. which is considered egotistical in literal terms. but he’s utilizing it well 🤷🏻♂️
I have a few of Rick Owens pieces and they are really head turners, you can't help but notice how people look at you, the thing is his clothes fit like... OMG, I'm not kidding, they fit amazingly well into your body!!!!! The material, the cut, the quality, the design...unbeatable!!!! Admire him from my heart!!
@@gregdahlen4375 I think he studies them so well that no matter what size you are the pieces in your size fit on you amazingly....I spent so much money on the biggest names in the fashion industry and many of them don't have this fitting...so often time you need to see a "sarta" (tailor in Italian) or many times you wasted money to be honest :-)
7 years later, I come back here, watched it again and again. A lot of things has changed, but this video is still my favourite video of Rick Owens of all time.
He advances him self , and the world around him through looking at his past mistakes and making them better next collection, that’s a really beneficial way to be better.
I love his design! Fit, elegant, super simple, unbalance in balance, dark or light, nobility, clean, good quality... the characteristic of neo-classic, modern and classic. He is a God gifted natural man!!!!
Grace ,warmth & intellect. His clothes wear well. Designed & Made to endure the exhaust of life’s wear and tear, better with Age. Like all thoughtful art !
We have a lot of very talented people from our area. Jim Tanner is a very talented designer working with all the top entertainers. Tim Baker, Tim Miller so much for stuff!
i did not like the way he touched her, especially trying to force her posture to shift by touching her chin. and i don't think she liked it either. .... she kept a certain blank expression but i bet she was tolerating it.
