Pitino impregnated the wife of a guy on his staff, got strippers to service his players, got caught on a FBI bribery case, and got Louisville put on probation for recruiting violations!! They fired him for a reason, and now schools like St. John's have amnesia?? He's a disgrace who never should have coached again!
@@bigkahunaburger5185 it’s what happens when you lose any HOF coach, especially in the way they handled it. Should never have fired him but shit now we have 3 5 stars next year and hopefully it gets better.
A Louisville fan here. We did you wrong. Much success and blessings to you and your family. You're the one coach I look to kick our A**. Do it!! I fully support you!!!!!!@someone that's from Kentucky.
He was using hookers to recruit players, many of whom were still minors at the time. How could any school ever hire him again? How could any parent ever let him into the house on a recruiting visit? For that matter, why isn't he in prison?
Good on ya Rick! Hope you can bring your team to Rupp for a return game in MSG maybe n you get that Jersey retired rightfully deserved. GoBigBlue!!! Y'all got a gooden
@@stevenbrimley1934 I'm a big Mike Anderson fan, but he wasn't doing his job. He was allowing the players do to anything, that is why he had multiple suspension.
as a Kentucky fan who is sick of the current bum we have here, I wish we had Rick back. I'll be cheering for St Johns until my school decides to go in another direction. Congrats Coach, you deserve it.
@Mike Stamper because Cal has 48 NBA players in 10 years. I could coach that team and beat Louisville. Pitino had some talent but hardly any 5 stars, he actually coaches.
@@Mikestamper04 yeah 8-2 Vs pitino but same amount of National championships in same time frame. The also share same amount of final 4s since 2015 and pitino has been out the game.
I’m intrigued by the Pitino family of coaches. I love what they bring to college basketball. I’m excited to see Rick back in the Big East and will definitely be keeping tabs. #GoLobos #sjubb
He was great at Kentucky great at Louisville great at Iona won a title with the Greece national team in that league he’s a winner saint John’s is getting ready to win a lot of games
I've been a Louisville fan for 24 years, born and raised in Louisville, but the BS they put Pitino through, for what? it's ridiculous and unforgivable and the karma Louisville Men's basketball has received is deserved. This man is a fantastic coach and is full of passion and inspirational life advice. His philosophy on and off the court is amazing. I have never been happier for a coach like I am for Pitino in this moment of his career and life and I truly hope St. Johns kicks everyone's a$$.
I have been a louisville fan for 10 years now and I believe with the recruits we have coming in we will be back on top. i will miss pitino though because he didn't need 5 star recruits he was a player developer and a true coach. The good thing is now I get to watch two teams in march.
I have no issue with the hire but to attempt to fire Mike Anderson for CAUSE is a low vibration move. To attempt to tarnish a man who has always ran a clean program is pitiful. He didnt win enough and so you fire him, but honor the contract. SHOW YOU ACTUALLY HAVE MORALS
And then they turn around and hire a coach who impregnated the wife of his staffer, had strippers servicing his players, was caught by the FBI in a bribery case, and got Louisville on probation because of violations!! Great hire St. John's!!
When you now know that this man was COMPLETELY exonerated by an independent investigation and you know what this man has been through in over the last 5 years since he was fired at Louisville, how can you not say that he is a man of "INTEGRITY" who through hindsight was wronged on many levels and how can you not want to root for him in his hour of redemption with all that he's been through. In my opinion if you think otherwise, you're either a hater or one that doesn't comprehend the facts that have been presented despite whether you agree or disagree. Shame on those that choose a rush to judgement.
As a cradle Cat, I’m very happy for Rick Pitino. My first memory of him was watching my dad cry after Kentucky lost to Duke in 92. The best memories were watching the 96 cats dominate everyone. 97 it was hard to watch Derrick Anderson site on the bench and not be able to do anything for his team. 98 team he gets as much credit as Tubby. It broke my heart that he left us. When he came back to Louisville it really sparked the rivalry. Watching Kentucky win in 2012, beating the cards in the final 4, watching them win it all in 2013, it’s easy to say he’s a better coach than Cal. I’m very happy for the man. Last bit, my mom went to Louisville and dad went to UK (like myself), no wonder they couldn’t stay married. Congrats coach!
"You win with players." It is why Coach Pitino and staff ran right over to Archbishop Stepinac to visit Boogie Fland and Danny Carbuccia. I would love to see Boogie at St. John's. He could be the key PG to lead the way in '24-'25 onward.
I once saw Pitino at a gold tournament in Cary, North Carolina 35+ years ago. Had a chance to chat with him for a few minutes and remember thinking what a nice guy. As a Carolina fan, I will look forward to seeing what he will do at St. John's. Good luck, Rick!
I was a huge Pitino supporter at UK. Got the pictures and autographs but never actually met him. He definitely gets 100% out of whoever is on the court and is great at turning ok players into winners and NBA picks. Having said that I have a friend that was a cheerleader at UK and she said he scolded her to where she was crying just because she ask him for an autograph for her mom. That was after a home game in her senior year…
If Rick stayed at Kentucky he would still be there today and Kentucky would be better off today. I wish him all the best because he is one of the best coaches ever. But I'm glad to see that Rick is back where he came st.john's is very lucky to have him. I wish the best for you and your.
Wish you the best Coach. As a former Wildcat fan, I will always remember how you rebuilt the Kentucky program. You won with less talent, but your dedication to the game and hard work paid dividends. I hope in the near future Kentucky finds a coach with the same traits. Calipari has to go!
"They're probably not a good fit for me." What a slap in the face to the St. John's players who stuck with the program through tough times. I am sure some of those players were "over the top in love with the game" otherwise they wouldn't have put in the hard work to get there. I would have much more respect for Pitino if he had worked with those players to get the most out of them while focusing on recruiting at the same time in order to build the program. Not a good look.
Why couldn't he have just developed the players that were already on the roster and then recruit from there? How did he go about getting players to leave the program? What if they didn't want to leave?
2 national championships are in the house. Welcome back to the big apple and I'm happy your on my side this time. Good luck but I'm sure you won't need luck.
@@Mikestamper04 if I have to recap the entire Pitino episode and how it was handled then you are clueless. Hint: look at the school president at the time….
He and Jurich were literally cancelled by conservatives lol. Pious judgmental hypocritical religious conservative zealots. Saying things like “ I wouldn’t want my son playing for Pitino”The whole group of people in the city/state wanting him gone for being “ dirty Pitino” Karen sypher/stripper gate etc. elected Matt bevin and let the dude make his own shots about the board of trustee people. They fired him. Then the ncaa( with Mitch Barnhart and other uk influence) dragged ass deliberately and railroaded him and UofL for 6 years. Conservative idiots cancelled Rick. Liberal woke people never would’ve
A undeniably great coach, who comes with a built in elephant size volume of ethical baggage. Saint Rick to St John’s, lol, he never did any of the many things he was accused of right??He used the OJ and Clinton defense, “I didn’t do it” just like his handlers told him to many times, and here he is again. Hide your wives, and watch your basketball players closely, and for goodness sakes don’t expect him to know what is going on in his own program.
As a Kentucky fan, Rick Pitino was one of the very best coaches UK ever had. He is, without a doubt, my favorite, all time college basketball coach. Absolutely love his way of coaching, his professionalism and just his overall, classy style. What a great pick St. John's, I'll be rooting for your team!. God bless you all.
He's definitely a great coach. He'llwin and he'll stay until he gets a better offer at a more prestigious landing spot. It's also well known that he has a bad reputation regarding his character. Buyer beware!
Pitino won’t matter . St. John’s is a catholic arch diocese school with a catholic board of directors of priest ‼️ It is a medical school that recruits Brain 🧠 surgeons. Not basketball players . They will not tolerate certain elements ( ghetto ) kids from the hood . Most the top recruits these kids are one and dones and st Jon’s doesn’t do 1 & done . Yes there will be an influx of players coming in , but when Pitino leaves so will the recruits . St. John’s has no on campus housing or campus life or social life . The only draw is Madison square garden . Respectfully My friends . 💯💯💯💯Oh yeah the arena only seats 7000 or 9000 no good
he said in an interview in 2019 that "he would never coach again". He also said at some time in the past "I never should have left Kentucky". He then went to the NBA for a short period and ended up at Louisville (kentucky's little Brother). I loved the guy when he was coaching at UK. But he has accomplished nothing since
