100% 💯 fuck what everybody else saying. Many of them don’t even know anything about the culture. If you can’t write you don’t need to be a rapper. The ghost writer shit works for singers, reggae artist, or rock ‘n’ roll and pop people, not rap. Rap is like a journal telling us about yourself.
It's not about writing their own lyrics Jesus Christ , every rapper has co-writers if you just go like that there's nobody left , it's about ghostwriters : Writers or co-writers who are *intentionally* not credited to the song. Stop with this narrative if y'all want to clown/hate on drake for this go for it but do it correctly , but rappers not writing all their songs is a common thing .
@mornotafi nah. If you don't write your own shit you aren't the best. You can participate and sell records but don't pretend you are something you aren't.
The Pulitzer bar is about Kendrick. Ross is saying eventhough Kendrick is a "conscious" rapper. He's making a switch to diss Drake. Ross is basically setting Kendrick up for the dunk with that.
“Pop a perc for the ville” RIP Cole Also, the Pulitzer Prize bar is Ross saying like Kendrick is off his conscious Grammy shit and on his gangsta KDot shit
Or maybe Pull-it-surprise niggas switching up like dyed denim!!!!! May be some word play meaning pulled a slick move and surprised him with the diss track mentioning Ross name/ Drake switched on him….🤷🏾♂️
as a emcee drake will never be truly respected cause of those allegations..think about kdot and how he is held in a high regarding his pen and lyricism..drake forfeited that esteem
another thing i go off of is like when it comes to michael jackson, he might not have been writing them but he was singing his ass off. you either have to have the lyrics or the voice, thats why rap is wishy washy because theyre not singing and they all do shit to make theirselves sound better so you gotta come hard with the pen and pad. if you cant do either then what are you?
I fw your reactions because you’re actually immersed in the Rap/Hip Hop and have a real appreciation for rap/trap/hip hop, AND the history. It’s not often you meet people who actually have listened to the mixtapes, the leaks, their debut albums/singles, etc.
Rap is different from any other genre, I'm cool if you rap a vibe song and you don't write it, I'm still gonna fuck with you, but whenever you start rapping anything you didn't write you can't ever claim you are the greatest, the greats write their shit and they connect with people through their vision, their lifestyle, their experiences or even their own vibe, even if it's not lyrical. To me Drake can't even get on a convo with any other rapper who craft their shit, but I still used to fuck with him, but not anymore since this whole beef started, I can't side with an industry guy vs the rap guys
Agreed 100%, also to his point comparing NWA and Ice Cube; I’m an old head, I was there for No Vaseline, not one person from NWA responded. Why? Because you NEVER go up against an actual writer or lyricist. The ghost writing definitely put a big dent in his armor and mostly certainly when speaking of the greatest.
I always thought Rick Ross was decent, but this is a solid diss. And you’re right, Ross been making big hits way before Drake, crazy how people forgot about “The Boss” with T-Pain. That track was hard!
It’s why Kendrick said that prince line. He wrote and produced like 99% of his own music but mj tho just see the writing credits on his biggest album thriller
Rap is different art form…we are not PAST real lyricist writing their own rhymes. No one ever respected Eazy E or Dre as real rappers. This is why Mos Def said Drake is a pop artist. Niggas trying to change where hip hop stands out from other music. This generation is interesting, if that’s the new trend so be it. There is a reason Drake will never get that respect…
Nah fam dont even put that in the air....rnb and rap aint the same....dre is a producer...eazy never claimed to be the best rapper he was in it to make money
It's not even just hip hop. Paul McCartney is Paul McCartney because of his writing and ability to play and sing. Bob Dylan, Elton John, Kurt Cobain. Shit has always been part of the conversation and always will be.
I believe a singers primary talent is their ability to sing. A rapper's primary talent is their pen. We cant be out here revising the expectations. Lol
You can't say you're the BEST rapper if you have ghostwriters. You can say I'm the best hitmaker but not rapper. Ultimately every rapper in the game should want get better at their craft and that includes writing
The only difference is that they weren't saying they were the best at what they were doing. Drake says he's the best rapper number 1. You can't say you're the best when you are not writing your music. Drake should be saying we the best like Khaled lol
I think that pilitzer line is in reference to Kendrick. I think he trying to say Kendrick about to switch up from peaceful to savage because Kendrick said it himself that he can switch it off and that he's still is who he is.
Rick Ross is a rapper and as formidable as it comes. He has stood toe to toe with 50 no issues and is a successful black man. What makes anyone think Drakes corny ass from Canada is going to be an issue. Drake been corny since day 1. We let people like Drake around us all the time...Ross is right....the man ain't from around black people, that's not his fault, but, he's not from it. But...he makes money, so heavyweights cosigned him. When all the music and lights are gone...all these rappers in this beef know deep down...Drake corny...Drake knows too.
I’m only at 01:32 of this video but I thought I’d share my thoughts too. You’re right. And to add to that, in the mid-2000s when he was beefing with G-Unit, they were putting out disses every couple days. Ross had to keep up with that, and he did. So what G-Unit did, without realizing it, was turned Rick Ross into a battle rapper. That is why this response came so quickly.
R&B is different than Rap. MCs “MUST” write their own lyrics if they want to be considered one of the best or if that MC want to brag about their lyrical skills.
The difference between Nwa and aubrey is that it was a public knowledge cube written for Nwa. Meanwhile, Aubrey has had multiple instances of claiming bars that weren't his until he’s pressed on ‘em
I think the ghostwriting doesn't really affect Drake's resume, but him saying he does"t use ghostwriters when there's evidence is what really affects his image.
We got a lot of opinions from brand new Hip Hop fans or people who are just fans of certain artists but aren’t true heads of the genre. Cause ain’t no way people thought Rick Ross couldn’t bar up.
People act like drake wasn’t writing his own songs when he came in the game. He got bigger over the years and he do all types of music now. Comeback Season and For All The Dogs are two totally different Drakes. Now if he didn’t write stuff like 9am In Dallas or Look What You've Done then I can understand.
PULITZER PRIZE WINNER verse Kendrick is not in his "conscious" mode right now 👈💯. He's "switched" up to let KDOT/ KENNY FROM COMPTON 👑 address Drake. 👉Playin' In His Face, 👉being Disrespectful, 👉 and recently speaking on KDOT'S wife 💯 KDOT is in the building, on Demon Time, and as he's ALREADY said in LIKE THAT !?, 👉 IT'S UP !🎯💯
It’s different being a singer get songs wrote. Your main goal is too show your vocals . Compared too a rapper . Rap is measured off lyrics . So if you saying your the best rapper . Well using your own pin is a must
I feel like Drake could never be considered the best rapper because he had stuff that was written, rap, and hip-hop originally was speaking your story so it’s kind of hard when you’re speaking someone else’s story.
I can’t believe homie is comparing singers with rappers. Of course having a ghost writer take a lot of credit away for you as a rapper. Rapping is more about your life experience and represent you. I don’t respect a rapper who Have a ghost writer. No matter what year we’re in.
I really like your videos and I have been following them for a long time but I would like to know why you don't make content related to GUNNA, I believe in it being hot and you would be very successful, from Prada I see that you haven't uploaded anything... is it something personal or do you just see that Doesn't it catch your attention? 🅿️🅿️🅿️
There’s room for writers and artists in rap. The problem arises when you base your legitimacy of a rapper on your own bars and create smoke and mirrors to hide the lies. There should be a distinction between a lyricist like Black Thought and a performer. As long as they’re honest to their core audience no one should care.
Dre, Eazy E, never proclaimed to be the best, they were producers and executives…..Drake claims to be the best rapper, u can’t be the best rapper if u have writers….drake can claim to be the best artist, but not rapper…..I don’t knock drake for having writers when he’s singing he R&B joints, that’s different than rapper….u can’t compare rappers to singers
😂😂 how is ghostwriting not affecting the top 3 talk to some of the folks??? Lmao Drake is a great artist.......he loses several points when it comes to top Rappers
We definitely not way past that people relate to the music and the artist specifically cuz it relates people to there idols and then to find out that's not them 🖋️ ✍🏿 📜 it don't hit the same we definitely not overlooking the real artistry 💯💯💯 #drakegetsnopass 🤷🏿♂️
I’m almost certain 90 percent of people choosing Ashton Martin music and diced pineapples over lemon pepper freestyle and money in the grave. Charts change while platinum classics remain
I understand some people use ghost writers, and I don’t think it should take away from the artist fully but In my opinion i find it kind of weird to rap someone else’s work. Like me as a person I would feel so fake if someone ghost wrote what I’m putting out
Yea cause those original Quentin miller songs sucked 😂😂Drake made them what it is. I feel like when it comes to competitive rap like this, you have to write your own stuff lol.
Personally dont care if people write his pop songs for him but you can't be in no top whatever or GOAT convos of hip hop with ghost writers. Don't feel like thats an old hip hop thing I just think the skill has gone down overall today, its more about club hits and drug party songs than it is about whos the best with their pen.
