I agree we need Rick to do more interinterviews with visual artists in their studios … it take things to another level ….thanks Rick …. Hope to meet you one day with my 🖼️ art …cheers
Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow is actually several years earlier than Joe’s Garage (‘79); it’s on Apostrophe (‘74), which btw has a brand new release for its 50 anniversary.
I would love to hear Rick Ruben talk to Odd Nerdrum the Norwegian painter about art and life. I think both men would have an appreciation for the other's perspectives on life, art and philosophy. Both have that Prophet vibe.
Love this ☝️! As a painter, graphic designer making music , I can relate to the obsession, gathering, collecting images, sounds, albums. Got into reggae, roots, dub, then shamanic soundscapes. Greetings from Haiti 🇭🇹 we’re still alive n making art. Mrs Rubin, loved your book…I even made a puppet of you to animate. 🙌
I want to say this first I’m giving this episode a chance because my respect for Rick and his insight on creativity. But I’m 13 minutes in and I’m losing interest because the conversation is so one sided. I’m not trolling I’m just stating my truth. Hope you are having a beautiful day and thank you for the visuals.
is this for real? felt more and more like typical parody sketch the longer it dragged on. ingenuine LA bs artist speak . . nothing new. cliche. shallow. . name drop name drop blah blah. RR couldn't even act like he believed what this guy was saying half the time.
He's a sober self obsessed artist with no self awareness so it comes off as satire or ironic. pretty common but im surprised he hasn't grown past that and just be real.
Tetragrammaton is my favorite podcast. One piece of constructive feedback is show the painting up close when they are discussing the piece. I love their reactions but I want to react to it as well. Thank you Rick and team for ALWAYS putting out quality episodes!
Okay just started, I already know I’m gonna love this one, he’s got a JFA shirt! My friend Lily’s dad Corey Stretz plays bass for them. Will edit my comment with an update once I finish watching 🙌
Wes seems like the most vapid, least interesting artist of our time. It's like he's been developed by an media company. Dishonest eyes hidden behind sunglasses as he spouts empty, boring monologues. Signalling how cool he is with old punk shirts. Jesus. Rick should be embarrassed for entertaining this fake hack.
I love harmonised palettes like you're saying, but I think his work benefits from the crudeness like James Ensor, gives it dark humour that I think he is going for
