7:50 Camping is a super important survival skill to have if you are traveling in space. NASA astronauts do extreme survival training before every mission, which is basically camping but with bare minimum gear. When I was young, my boy scout troupe did a 4 day not tent camping trip, using only rope and a tarp we had to build a shelter to survive the elements. We got unlucky and had the trip the weekend of the worst thunderstorm of the summer, it was amazing. And this was before cellphones became prevalent (in the 1990 or 1991).
The thing is all of them have flaws. Jerry’s flaws are just more obvious. One of the most insidious characters is Morty. He pretends to be naive. But he has engineered some troublesome stuff.
This episode was pure vindication for Jerry and I love it!! He was effin right!! The fam constantly puts him down for not being as smart or capable as Rick or Beth to the point of tearing him to shreds if given the opportunity. I'll say this again, none of them are really any better. We've seen in different episodes in the past that each of them are horrible in some way. Morty and Summer are both idiots who ignore the warnings that anyone else gives them to pursue a base pleasure that ultimately ends up causing chaos and death. Beth calls Jerry insecure about his intelligence but going by that time with the Deer Jerry ran over and the time Summer tried to change her body shape, she's just as bad. I thought that she was done seeking Rick's approval but going by this episode she clearly isn't. As for Rick, sure Jerry temporarily had God powers and wasted em in a fight with super science enhanced Beth, but did you ever stop to think about all the stuff Rick can do with his intellect? I have no doubt that if he wanted to he could cure cancer in a week, he flat out just doesn't care and yet everyone seems to judge him by the standard of what's good? Don, Rick is the last person that Summer, Morty or Beth should emulate. Sure he's a genius capable of godlike things but he's also toxic, manipulative and incredibly self centered. He knows that nothing matters so he gives a sh*t about basically nothing, why would a parent want that for their kid?
Yeah i feel like Jerry had enough of reality check now it's time for another member's of family.....Sammer probably.......also yeah just becuase Rick can do anything does not mean he's perfect,or that you should strive to become like him.
Take all of Rick's wisdom and advice with a grain of salt. He is a genius first and foremost, but to believe that he is always right on everything, especially on idealistic topics or morality, is misguided. If he was, he wouldn't be such a dysfunctional, self destructive person. I furrow my brow every time he makes a cynical remark and everyone clamors to agree. These characters are often projections of the creators/writers, who are human and imperfect, so there's that too. Now that aside, I still enjoy him as a character because he is entertaining and hilarious, and his cynical perspective still brings up valid points from time to time to think about.
Except Morty and Summer are just kids. Rick was right about Jerry when he said he acts like a victim but is a predator who lures people in with pity. Summer was right when she made him admit he's a racist, sexist man baby who never takes accountability for anything. Despite being the youngest, Morty is the most mature and balanced of them all. He's learned so much through his adventures with Rick out of pure necessity for his survival, but also calls Summer out on being purposefully cruel to their dad. Morty makes mistakes on a crazy scale because Rick raised the stakes to that level, but at least he's capable of self-reflection and learns from them. Unlike Summer, he doesn't idolise Rick; he knows that Rick is a selfish egomaniac who hates himself and is tormented by his genius. In regards to the curing cancer bit, the difference between Rick and Jerry is that Jerry constantly says he's a good person and tries to project himself as someone morally good, while Rick does nothing of the sort. He's never really tried to come across as a morally good person, in fact he's openly a complete asshole 90% of the time. I think that there are no role models in the family. They're all extremely flawed individuals trying to live in an insane reality. And in such a reality being intelligent, competent and independent are vital for being able to thrive. So they prefer Rick over Jerry because at least Rick offers them some semblance of control or hope, despite being the reason their lives are so chaotic.
@@jessbellis9510 good for them,but if you never strive to become a good person you will never become one.Jerry is important in this dynamic becuase he is trying to become something better than himself:he fails in that regard but he will be a much worse of a person if he stop's trying.Similar to Morty that has his toxin's removed.Morty is much better of a person than the rest of his family exactly becuase everyone in his family is an example in some regards for him and also people who he meet's in his adventure.
Yooo chill on Jerry, his flaws only seem so pathetic because we’re subconsciously comparing him to Rick, Beth (n to some extent Summer n Morty). I think one of the main themes of the show is to highlight that despite everything, Jerry loves his family n wants to feel loved/appreciated by them like we all do - only due to Rick is being completely detached n flippant about everything normalised.
@LoRENZo I don't think he deserves pity. It's the thing he needs to continue his lifestyle of trying to make sure his own suffering is carried by others. He's a worm who harms everything around him so that he doesn't have to confront his own faults and perpetuate his coping mechanisms. Leave him to the wolves so he can learn how to be a real human being, like Prime Jerry.

A ton of people hate on Summer in this episode, but despite her hard words, she was right. Jerry wasn't doing this because he wanted to spend time with his family; he just wanted to have something to lord over them. I kinda understand why, but it makes it difficult to want to spend time with him. In a vid with just that scene, people said they'd love to have a dad spend time with them. Thinking for a minute, though, if I knew that my father was teaching me things for no reason other than to feel superior, I wouldn't want to do it. I'd feel like he didn't care about actually hanging out and having a good time. How could ANYONE want that?
Yeah. Summer maybe not really understands it (which is why she never made a point of that), but she's hurt by Jerry's attitude. She feels abandoned and not wanted, so as a responce she lashes out to hurt him as bad as possible. She wouldn't do it if she knew that her father, no matter how stupid or incompetent he is, loves her and holds her dear, and wants to teach her at least something for her to thrive in this world. But as she pointed out, that's not why he does what he does. He wants to feel superior, and she is extremely frustrated with that.
Why does anyone enjoy camping? I don't see what's so enjoyable about insects, spiders, cold nights, dampness, filth, inconvenience and second-rate food.
Nature, to be on your own, silence, no disgusting people around you. Surviving on your own to a certain grade at least is fun. Beeing in society is constant torture.
Jerry needs to understand a difference? Bro, understand this, we just lost Justin cause some jack off wanted to get famous for kicking him off the voice acting for R&M plus he came up with the entire story for seasons 1 through 6 and had the witty jokes he made up, the one replacing him won't do that, and plus these are old videos of R&M you don't need to shield it if you want views, just put it as a video and add a small dot in the middle with a circle line 50% away from the dot, use volume from media at 100% and set your mic volume to 60%
