Sinéad O'Connor’s vocals on this Richard Wright composition are perfection. A personal favorite of mine, I immediately thought of Breakthrough when the sad news broke. RIP.
I can take or leave it, won't be the woebegone Don't need a model universe to hang your pictures on. You hide somewhere, you die somewhere And then this senseless thought, By hating more you're feeling more And that's how you get caught. They're never going to make it easy Of this you can be sure. I greet you from the wilderness, I'll stay inside your door. There's no cage or prison, they have no fence too tall, You die more times that anyone, there's still no place to fall. They're never going to keep it simple This comes down from above. I have no helm, no secret realm, I dream to be at the heart of love, a part of love. I bet you can conceal it, but that's just a dead-end track, I'll cover you like the driven snow and then I'll bring you back. You'll see ! you feel like, you feel like a banner, Unfurled and gently blown, And there before your opening eyes The self you've never known. They're never going to make it easy Of this you can be sure. You feel untied, beatified And loved for evermore
It is so nice to hear the late Sinead O’Conner singing on a track with the late Richard Wright and David Gilmore. There is nothing more that warms my heart than listening to Sinead singing with a musical background that is Pink Floyd related…”And everything is green in submarine!!!”…Karl Schumaker 🩷🍀🩷🍀🩷
I truly stand corrected!David Gilmore did not play guitar on this song despite the fact that it sounds like the very same flamenco guitar that he had played on the song “High Hopes.”However,David did play guitar on a live version during a concert tour for his album “On an Island.”Richard Wright however played the very same keyboard synthesizer that he had played on the song “Echoes”…RIP both Richard and Sinead!!!…Karlido🩷🍀🩷🍀🩷🍀
@@HardPen-jj5nl You are right or Wright(little joke).David Gilmore always considered Rick Wright a good friend and soulmate when it came to making music for both his solo efforts as well as the music for Pink Floyd.Once again,RIP both Rick and Sinead!!!…Karlido🩷🍀🩷🍀🩷🍀
There is an official video to this song. It was directed by Storm Thorgeson. Somehow, it has been completely scrubbed off the internet. I cannot find it anywhere.
Assolutamente fantastico ed eccezionale, composto ed eseguito magnificamente ed intensamente, da ascoltare e riascoltare in loop !!! grazie infinite Rick e Sinéad 💖💖
The best music of the album certainly, you see that 40 thousand saw and 800 like it, which arrives 2% which is a good position. You can check that this did not happen in the remaining of musics of the album. So, when you are a Pink Floyd's keyboardist, you have a great public but this doesn't mean that are potential buyers of something you do. Maybe, there's more secrets in production, that Waters talk and the others don't understand. Money is important, also talent and fame. But this is not a question of only production, there's much more details involved, which some people disregards and led to a bad result afterwards. You see that in many solo's albuns where some talents didn't reach the top, because of bad divulgation or even, because some musics deserved more improvements, more details, adjusts, colaborations to reach to the level of being a success. This is not easy, as one can imagine, maybe that's Rick's fault, because in his desire to proof he could do something valuable outside Pink Floyd's hands, he closed doors that could increment his own performance and make his work shine.
Richard Wright was the 'soul' of Floyd... If you can't see that, then you never knew Pink Floyd.... IMO, I've listened to them and gone to their live shows since the 70's. Floyd ceased to exist when he passed... Roger Waters be.... well.... whatever...
