just fooling around on the keys one night/morning... a little "Giant Steps',"God Want's a Yes; John Peters Reharm", and the rest from the top of the head
One of the first I saw doing the gospel jazz thing. This is the pre Cory Henry, pre Quennel Gaskins and pre Glenn Gibson, etc days. I can't believe at this time this clip is as old as a teen graduating high school.
This is what is called Raw Talent! Plus you have apparently done your Music Theory homework as well. GET DOWN... GET DOWN... MY BROTHER! Look out everybody.......could this be the next best ever? Is the youthful face person shown at the beginning of this video really playing this stuff........ and so seemingly effortlessly? Dude, you are the best I've ever heard ....Period.
Great playing young man. You remind of pianist Bernard Wright when he was sixteen years old. You are a prodigy, which is a God given talent. With this talent, you could make a lot of money overseas.
Rick....you are fantastic. You have great knowledge of chords and harmonies. You have the rare gift of making playing these complicated chords look so easy. If I had half your talent and knowledge I would be a happy man. Makes me wonder how many hours in your life you have spent behind a keyboard. Btw....I love your Hammond work, too !!!
Man u crack me up! U always start most of ur videos out by that 'hay y'all it's me smiling at the cam' look! I love it! ha ha lol Keep up that great playing dude! --oh yeah, that Rev. Dewey Smith Music & Worship/Praise conference is this July 2008. cya dude
That progression @ 3:25 gets me everytime!!! Reminds me of Art Tatum but with your own feeling to it!! And then that chord @ 3:37...I'm over here speaking in tongues...(E..K..O..C..)
Wish I could play like you. How much time do u spend transcribing? Can u pls describe how u woodshed? I'm overwhelmed, seems I started too late. Great playing man, thanx for the post
No, I was be fecitous. Anyone that plays and reads that well is a professional. But society crowns you a professional when you a part of a society. After wall, when do musicians become known as Professionals? Whats the standard or who gives the validation?
